I use facebook mostly for birthdays

I pause folks for 30 days if I tire of scrolling by their political posts

Facebook is for posting pictures of your new cars, fabulous vacations, kids, pets, etc.  It's for making people understand that my life is better than theirs.  ;)

They, of course, should do the same to me.  It's fun.

I don't ever post politics on Facebook, and I block anyone that does.  I don't unfriend them, because they still need to see my pictures of fabulous vacations and whatnot, and envy me and wish their lives were as great as mine, but I don't want to see their political hawt takes no matter which particular echo chamber they choose to reside in.

But I do find it really handy for keeping up to date with friends and family that I don't see regularly, keeping up with their kids, and letting them know what we're up to as well.  When you eliminate all the political shit-posting, it's really a pleasant experience.

I have never been on Facebook or had an account. Same with Instagram.

I honestly don’t feel like I’m missing a damn thing as a text directly to all my friends and family and get pictures and updates all the time.  

I generally like humans but it is waning. Social media just reinforces how many human traits and elements I find extremely distasteful.

I enjoy the political postings.  And of course I enjoy the ones that are clearly incorrect factually.  I don't think the posters enjoy when I correct them much.

It's a window into the human condition and psyche.

You guys are funny, talking about facebook like that.  If you think it's bad, check out twitter.  It's the ultimate cesspool.  It's basically the most vile comments from a  youtube video transmorphing itself into news.  Facebook is for old people now and twitter is the current platform for people to see what's happening in the world...while wading in knee-deep sewage.

And then there's reddit, which is like the worst people alive have taken truth serum and share EVERYTHING horrible they've witnessed or done themeselves.

And there's twitch, which you really won't like if you don't like young people expecting money for doing nothing.  Most of it is girls in bikini tops playing video games as men watch and hand their money over.
