I’m against it when they do it.

I think as a practice, I feel it’s undemocratic. I’d prefer no one do it.

I also readily admit, actually solving it is quite tricky, as there’s no perfect map and setting an exact standard is pretty tough. Though I’d guess using the tools using to create gerrymandered maps, one could endeavor from something more reflectively representative.

I agree, no one should do it.

This is the crap that drives me nuts - “when Republicans do it they are trying to rig elections.  When we do it it’s for fairness.”  Both are doing it to gain an advantage - stop gaslighting us.

Illinois is now set up with a 14-3 advantage toward democrats.  I know they are a blue state but not that blue…

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was reportedly losing FORTY MILLION DOLLARS(!!!) annually:

"Sources inside CBS have suddenly become much more forthcoming about the sobering economics of late-night television in 2025...revealing that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has recently been running at an annual shortfall of $40 million."

"If that sounds unthinkable for the #1 rated show at 11:35pm, consider this: as Matt Belloni reports today in Puck, back in 2018, all of late-night television combined generated $438 million in advertising revenue. By 2023, that number had been cut in half, and it has continued to fall."

"Given that The Late Show—with its handsomely paid host and a staff of roughly 200 employees—reportedly costs CBS $100 million per year to produce, that $40 million figure becomes easier to understand."

I expect this story to drag into the headlines for quite a while.

I’ve literally never watched The Late Show with Steven Colbert. For one, I simply don’t like him. I don’t find him funny and the little bit I have seen of him I find that’s he’s very political and I don’t like his politics. I used to watch the late shows ( Carson, Letterman, Leno, and Conan) a couple of times per week. It was all about comedy, and they made just as much fun of democrats as they did republicans, or so it seemed.

With the statistics we have, districting fairly would be easy.  But ideology on both sides fucks it all up.
I see it similar to how we have knowingly politically-radical judges on both sides.  It sure would be nice for judges to be moderates across the board, huh?

As a society, we've given up on that, shrugged our shoulders, and made it a competition to create the most radical possible reality.

It's all broken.
