I’m leaning to making voting something that may be an inconvenience.  Not necessarily hard, but just something that takes just a little effort. Wait in line for 15-30 minutes. Maybe drive 20 minutes to a station.

The older I get the less I want lazy people voting.
Even if I agreed with this assessment (which I don't really), one problem with is is things can get fuzzy between lazy and busy.

So maybe we punish the "lazy," but we also put a thumb on the scale for those with the more free time on a workday over people who are working a full day and have full lives.

I used to leave a bit early for work, around 6:45 AM, when the polls opened, no line.  I really don't see the point these days.  I have the request for an absentee ballot on my desk, I probably will request one.  Maybe.

Yes. Their orders were out of line.  Leave the violent protesters alone.  Pursue the innocent people on their porch after 8pm. Walz was wrong all the way on both.
Hmmm. This feels like a somewhat generous read toward finding extra things to be mad about. I pulled up something about cops teargassing and shooting protesters with non-lethal rounds relatively early in the protests.

But we imagine the world we want to, and if we're gonna end up at someone having to be the great devil, I suppose not much use in trying to shift someone too far off that path.

I mean, the claim is that the guard came in, was ordered to let the rioters be and instead go after people on their porches because of COVID. That is nonsense. It didn't happen. It is a lie. If anyone believes that they are not living in reality.

I’m giving HB the benefit of the doubt, assuming we’ve adjusted away from the COVID thing.

well people who are here illegally probably should be deported.

that's one of the few things a government actually has a responsibility/duty to do ya know. make sure non-citizens are here....legally, and then wait for it....remove them if they are not here legally.
Oddly enough, being here "undocumented" is in itself not against the law.  Getting here could be of course, a misdemeanor in some cases, but a lot of "illegals" just over stayed their visas, so they entered legally.  And just staying here too long is NOT illegal as I understand it.

So, there would be zero basis for deporting them.

Hey, that, to me, is a very queer theory.

So we agree that the cops, even in a riot curfew situation, are wrong to chase people indoors from their own porches with non-lethal munitions? If they’re Tim Walz’s cops committing that overreach, then I don’t see much issue with criticizing him for it.
Yes that was implied from the start so I don't know why you questioned what I took away as sarcasm,PoVs - fine piss/moan all ya want. I don't follow every freaking breaking story from either side as I didn't vote for either for POTUS.

This is a funny, to me, that during the Obama Administration oil production took off, but Democrats cannot brag about that politically.

Admittedly Badge's example was one of early voting, not mail-in voting.

But I can say that I'm not fat, stupid, or lazy. But in 2000 I was at Purdue while registered to vote in IL. There was no way I was going to skip class on a Tuesday to drive ~2.5 hours to vote. I believe I was traveling on business on election day in 2008. What am I supposed to do, choose voting over my livelihood? In 2012 I had a business trip that took me to Calgary--I recall watching that election result from Canada. That was what spurred me on to choose the permanent mail-in voter status in CA. Because I *do* care about voting, but sometimes life forces you to be doing something else, or be somewhere else, on Election Day.

Nope. State and local primaries.
