So, "they" are going to look into the Trump shooting (not to bring back a sore subject).  Usually, what happens is this, Group A says they thought Group B was responsible for that, and B says C, and C says A, and it's a big muddle, and it ends up that communication was the problem.  They were all on different frequencies or somesuch.

Then the fire a janitor and promise to do better.

if it's run by the government, it's usually a big muddle, with little accountability

Suburban areas usually are "purple".  I see housewives voting Blue and husbands boting Red fairly often.

Urban - Blue
Suburban - Purple
Rural - Red

Simplistic "analysis".

The city of Atlanta has about half a million residents, the metro area has around 6 million in the suburban areas.

We just don't know who they are or where they came from, but sure, I guess? Do they count?

A not insignificant amount of them are kids of families from more rural areas who find success/get educations and move to bigger places. Folks chasing jobs and salaries.

And this will change as well, as more and more companies leave the big cities. That is happening too.

Office vacancy says so.

Perhaps we’ll have a second golden age of suburbs then. I’m a bit skeptical, but we’ll see.

I think office vacancies are a holdover from COVID, and a semipermanent change to working at home.

Most large company HQs remain in urban/suburban  areas, not all, but most.

And if a Big One moves to a small city, it starts to become a larger city.

Predictions are hard, especially about the future.

It's not really a mystery. People go where the business is, and that's where the people already are. I moved from a rural area to a city. I've had many opportunities to move back, but to do what? It wouldn't really be feasible. Technology helps some, but I'm dubious of the idea that people will flee cities. Suburbs are just extensions of the cities - where people go to avoid the downsides of city living without actually leaving the city.

The suburbs here are mostly quite appealing.  You can get a pretty large wooded lot and a starter castle for what used to not be a ridiculous amount of money.  The problem of course is traffic, even if you work fairly close by.  Just getting to the local grocery can be a pain, you time when to go with when traffic is lightest.

Younger folks often prefer living in the urban area, which is a main reason where we are is growing so fast.  But I think for them, when they get Kid #2, they think about the 'burbs.

Must be why people keep moving to them
LoL.

Detroit had a population of over 2M in 1950 and Cleveland was almost 1M. Both are 1/3 of their one-time high.

Chicago peaked at over 3.6M in 1950 and is now under 2.7M.

These cities must be really well run!
