I think the idea of him being a hater might be a bit in accurate. Dershowitz literally wrote a book defending the former president and joined his legal team at some point. In fact, through most of this it has seemed that Dershowitz has been sympathetic.
He's a free-thinker and he's fair. He saw what was happening to 45 and found it reprehensible. It was.

************************

Dershowitz said he doesn't have a pro-Trump bias that would affect his view of the verdict.

"I am not a Trump supporter. I voted against him," he said. "I’m a liberal Democrat, but I care more about the weaponization of the criminal justice system.

Color me a bit skeptical. I think in most cases, that pattern of behavior would lead to an assumption of strong sympathy.

Chances are it won’t matter. Trump will win. He’ll pardon himself and it’ll be moot.

Correct. State jurisdiction.

Governor Hochel would actually be smart to pardon him.

Not sure why. He's stated his position. He's one of the most well-respected attorneys on the planet.

I’m sure if I asked Bragg if he was out to get Trump, he’d say he’s just following and enforcing the law. But I don’t think that would assuage your skepticism.

More wonky lawyers I’ve read have pointed to some wishcasting elements in Dersh’s commentary here.

The usual basis for winning an appeal is reversible error by a judge that affected the outcome.  That won't be all that easy to prove I suspect.  It may happen, but then ...

It would be interesting to see their appeal brief and what tactic they go after.

Can’t believe I forgot that.

He’ll still probably be free of the issue for his term. And by then we should see the end of the appeals process.

I think it is the opposite. The United States is rolling demonstration of the power of free flowing immigration, and yet you are trying to convince us that the opposite is true.
This is a hysterical inversion of truth.

The US never had free flowing immigration until the late 1960's.

The US imposed severe restrictions on immigration in the 1920's and in the 40-odd years after that the US (partial list)
  • Won the largest war ever fought
  • Became the dominant world power
  • Invented the Atomic Bomb
  • Possessed an economy that at the end of WWII was the equal of the entire rest of the world combined
  • Saw real wages rise to unprecedented levels even for unskilled laborers
Then those 1920's restrictions were repealed and enforcement became lax (at best) and since then
  • our relative power in the world has fallen
  • Our economic power has fallen even more dramatically
  • Real wages for those below the median have fallen dramatically
  • Income inequality has risen

You're blaming immigrants for all that?

You don't have to ask him. It was his stated goal when running for office.

I am interested in the population problems in Japan, and to a lesser extent South Korea.  Both strongly disfavor immigration, and their reproduction rates are not keeping up.  Some cities are losing population fairly rapidly, not because folks are moving elsewhere.  The US needs immigrants.  The A bomb would not have been possible without them, I suspect.

The simple question is not whether we should accept immigrants but how, in some fairly orderly manner or just take whoever shows up to live in some underground kind of existence here for the rest of their lives.

doesn't need to be underground

otherwise we'd be deporting or locking up bus loads daily

Did Alvin Bragg Campaign on a Promise To Prosecute Trump? What We Know - Newsweek

According to this report, he did NOT campaign promising to get Trump.  It's Newsweek, so ...

Maybe someone else has a suitable quote.
