I will say that while the tax burden in Florida is VERY low, insurance is VERY high.
We carry 300/300 on everything as that is required to have the umbrella coverage.
Still, $2,100/year for one car is a lot - almost double what we paid up North for TWO cars (both M-B).
$1,100/year for a 26' boat here. $750/year up North for a 40' boat.
$5,000+/year here for the house (have not got the new bill after Ian yet). $1,200/year for a comparably valued home up North.
So that comes to roughly $5K more per year than up there, but my property taxes here are 1/5 of what I paid up there. We are ahead by far, but I'm worried about that new home insurance bill.
