Something else would crop up to replace it aside from Trump's thing.
Trump's social media platform is like a month away from failure.

Any SM platform is going to have some kind of moderation.  Some could be surprised how little TWTR actually changes after some headline changes early on.
my guess: Trump and Babylon Bee and accounts banned for no valid reason at all will be back online. It will basically be anything goes save for actually you know, breaking the law. As it should be.

Twitter is going to change a lot. Musk didn't just drop $44 billion on it to maintain status quo.

Including pissing away $43 billion?
that's essentially what he just did. Even if he turns Twitter around he'll never see that money back.

When conspiracy theorists falsely posted that Gates was paying to develop Covid vaccines to implant chips in people, Twitter down-ranked the content and added fact-check notices. If Musk were running Twitter then, would he have left those posts up to needle his nemesis?

The deal will give Musk enormous influence over politicians, celebrities and the media, with the ability to platform and de-platform them at will.
But some will have sway over him, too, in ways that could distort what the public sees on Twitter. For example, Twitter has no presence in China. Musk does: A huge chunk of Tesla’s growth is dependent on that country. What happens when Chinese officials tell him to remove content from Twitter that they find objectionable?
Back here in the U.S., Musk’s SpaceX business relies, in large part, on contracts with the Defense Department. His Tesla business is in discussions with the U.S. government about a national charging station infrastructure. His Boring Company, which digs tunnels, relies on governments for contracts. If a politician that controls the purse strings for any of Musk’s companies were to publish misinformation, would Musk remove it?
There are no answers to these questions just yet. But we will find out soon. Likely on Twitter.
that is all astoundingly stupid bullshit. whoever wrote this is a literal retard.

Social media/Tech/Internet companies infinitely more powerful and influential than Twitter are already owned and controlled by/on the whims of billionaires. It's like the moron who wrote that never heard of Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. Or Google and Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Or Amazon and Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post. Facebook has like 2-3 billion users. Twitter might have 250 million- most of which are freaking trash bots. Google may very well just be the most powerful company on planet earth. Amazon isn't far behind. And Google/Amazon have massive government contracts as well. Amazon has a f**king $1 billion contract with the f***king CIA for motherf***k sake. Twitter is a f**king peon compared to any of those companies.

Would anyone be surprised if he just simply kills Twitter, for the good of this country?
if only he could buy Facebook and delete that too.

That is my answer to someone stating that he is pissing away $43 billion. I think he knows what he is doing.

he knows what he's doing for sure- he's a brilliant man- but he would NOT be buying Twitter if his goal was to make a lot of money.

Twitter has never made money and it never will. It's too niche and it's never going to be adopted by billions of people like Facebook/Instagram. It has none of the upside of Snapchat either. He will never make any real money from this.

Most of his net worth is tied up in his Tesla holdings, which means he'll need to pull $3B a year out of Twitter to pay for the financing. The company only reached that kind of revenue last year. It won't take long before Twitter ends up like so many other newspapers in the country.

In other words, I'm much closer to the "he's pissing away $43B" camp than I may have let on.

he 100% pissed away $43 billion. Twitter is a sh*thole company that's not worth two nickels. he's not doing this for the economics of it- he flat out said that.

Sorry I don’t share your paste eating partisan understanding of the world.
think you got it confused on which one of us is partisan. kinda like you're confused on what free speech is.

Disney is not "being punished" nor having their "free speech restricted". Disney World enjoys a special privilege as a quasi-governmental district which Florida government gives them. It's not a right- and they are not entitled to said privilege. That privilege can be taken away. And it should be.

I find it hilarious that "liberals" - who are't even really liberals anymore- what they really are are shitlibs/libtards - are railing against stripping special privileges away from filthy money grubbing corporations with a history of insane abuse like Disney has (sweatshops, anyone!). I thought these people hated corporations and want to tax the rich. Now they love 'em. Lol.

Disney can go f**k itself.

Its not social medias job to police what it deems truthful content.  Thats the first step to restricting free speech.

Its up to the reader to decide for themselves what is true and not true not the SM network
