I don't think genetic evidence can explain HOW monkeys got there.  I favor the aliens theory.

There is question as to how birds and insects got to Hawaii.  Before humans landed, Hawaii had no mammals, zero.  They did have birds, including flightless birds, and insects.  Hawaii is a long way from anywhere and didn't have continental drift (other than the islands drift NW).

Obviously they hopped a ride on Noah's Ark but got off early.

Insect eggs on the feathers of birds, insects blown on the wind, and insects on drift wood.  Insects are everywhere.

Yup, though it is a long way to Hawaii.  The flight from here to LA is over 4 hours, from LA to Hawaii is nearly six.

Mauna Kea had its first snow earlier this week.  We're planning to revisit the summit on this trip, our neighbor is joining us for the second week, he's never been (the physics guy).  It's a something to see.

The volcano is erupting, again, but you can't get close enough to see it except by chopper.  You can see the glow at night.

I've seen lava flows many years ago, it's hot.

The baby is just clinging to the mother.  No pouch.  I may tag along with him if we clear up COVID some time.  It's a bit scary for me thinking about flying to Uganda or Zambia or Congo.  My wife wants to go to South Africa, but not now.
this is how I feel about all international travel
I did find my passport yesterday

I'm afraid my daughters will coerce me into another trip to Hawaii

I like Hawaii well enough.  I just don't care for the long flight

It is a pretty long flight but at least we get a layover in Seattle or LA.  We depart Dec 9 for two weeks.

There is rain in the forecast apparently, should be done by our arrival.  There will be a lot of snow on the mountains, I hope for some clear days.  Often in the south it is very foggy due to "vog", it's really a term.

It's a long flight back but an even longer flight out. Plus it's an overnighter on the way back, so there's that.

I still have some relatives that live in Honolulu. However, I haven't been out there in a long time.

We go to Kona on the Big, so there is no direct flight.  Honolulu is interesting, for a few days.

We have not been to Kauai yet.  Been to Maui once, stayed at the Waldorf, what a place that is.  I used points.
