Well regardless of whether you love Bucee's or hate it, it would still be about 100X better than a freaking El Torito that was previously in that location.

But from the details, it sounds more like it's all just a joke.  There are some pretty small Bucee's out there, but nothing that would fit on a lot THAT small.

Only error in the Idiocracy documentary, Buccee's will be the only store, not CostCo.

Yo what's up with the 4th of July riots in Newport Beach?  I thought you rich folk had that place on lockdown.

That area (the peninsula) is the main stretch where there are a bunch of bars, the beach (obv), and it's normally a bit of a shitshow in the summer and on holidays. And that's just from the entitled asshole kids of the rich people... Add in a bunch of people coming from the Inland Empire who the rich Newport kids don't want to be there, and it's primed for trouble. And then... Add alcohol.

Seems like this one was even worse than usual.

This is why my wife and I were home by 7 on Saturday... July 4th and NYE are when the amateurs come out.

Yeah we're lucky enough to be able to see our city's fireworks from our front yard, so we just hung out all day, swimming, watching soccer, eating BBQ, and then wandered out front when we heard the first boom.

But since our city is a smaller suburb of Austin, the whole thing has much more of a county fair vibe.  The park has a public swimming pool and they bring in carnival rides and food vendors and all that kind of stuff.  No troublemakers from the big city make their way up here, and if they ever did, they'd find the entire community packing a lot more firepower than they themselves would have.

Yeah, our town has a little street fair on the 4th, leading up to the city fireworks show over the lake.

It attracts families with kids, not drunken hooligans.

Downtown Austin somewhere along the river used to have a spectacular fireworks show for July 4th, and it was fun and safe for everybody.  If that's changed, that's sad.

Sometimes I'd go to Round Rock's offering at the Dell Diamond, one of the really good places to see it from, and open to the public for free, iirc.

Good times.

There was a part of me that was a little sad. I didn’t either go downtown for the big firework show or find a parking deck where I could see it from afar.

But it was also hot as hell and going inside and laying down in a more reasonable time felt much better.
