Those of you who don't think it gets hot in Minnesota weren't sitting in the New Brickhouse today. Holy buckets it was hot.

Gophers look really ragged. OL still isn't getting any push. A win is a win but who knows what happens next week in College Park.

probably the most delfating 25 point win I've ever seen.

Quick thoughts:

stupid penalties and long stretches of sloppy uninspired play and poor play calling starting to look like a damn theme here. Harbaugh needs to get his head out of his you know what.

Shea Patterson is ridiculously good. BY FAR the best QB that Harbaugh has had at Michigan. He needs to stop being so f'ing stubborn with the offense and let the kid play. He is so athletic and can throw on the run so well. They need to use him more instead of just making him a game manager.

The O-line sucks ass. Runyan Jr and JBB need to be benched. I've seen enough of this trash. They struggle against Western Michigan and SMU. They will get destroyed by Wisconsin, MSU, Ohio State, Penn State. I don't know why they are waiting. Just going to put their young replacements behind the 8-ball even more.

The receivers/TE group is loaded with talent. I thought Gentry had kind of a weak game and he still put up big numbers. He left a couple big plays out on that field. This group will only get better the more they get acclimated with Shea. Donovan Peoples Jones is starting to look like the 5* everyone thought he was. Scary to think how good this group could be had Black not gotten hurt.

Sean McKeon sucks. I don't know why he even plays.

RB is a huge concern. They don't know how to use Chris Evans and the fact that an under-sized walk-on is their 3rd string back says a hell of a lot about the lack of development at the position.

Defense really didn't learn anything one way or the other. Played uninspired most of the game and it still took some help from refs for SMU to score 20. Only thing I learned really is what I already knew- these safeties just can't cut it. Metellus made a hell of a play but he really struggles in man coverage. So does Kinnel.

Seems like a lot of hand wringing for a guy until that pass hadn’t done anything all day.
In week one v Miami, He threw 5 OB intentionally to avoid taking a sack, had two batted down at the line and two drops. He also audibles at the line for their biggest TD of that Miami game, and threw zero picks.
Today was similar, except he threw 6 or 7 to a well covered WR- putting the ball in a place where only his player could get it, albeit a long shot. Down the critical stretch, every throw was on target and either caught, or not caught due to PI or a great defensive play.   Guy has zero turnovers.  Just a smart kid with a solid arm.

So why exactly was your head coach wearing two layers of long sleeve clothing?

Shea Patterson is completing 70.7% of his passes for 6 TD's and 1 INT through the first 3 games.

Michigan's QB's threw NINE touchdown passes all of last year and threw more INT's than they did TD's. They also completed only 53.5% of their passes.

This is a pretty accurate. But it’s probably not a guy need to wring your hands about too much

probably the most delfating 25 point win I've ever seen.

Quick thoughts:
Great points, and at the risk of overlap I’ll make a few of my own:
The OL was disorganized at first, BUT I thought they got it together as the game went on.
Though they were effective, the RB stable is frail. Does Harbaugh bother to recruit bulkier power backs? These guys are all so scattish. And you see how they eventually get knocked out of the game. Will a Samuel-Wilson tandom succeed against WIS & MSU in a few weeks? And how is it that in four years of Harbaugh an undersized walk-on is the difference maker at RB?
And speaking of WIS & MSU, Michigan’s schedule doesn’t seem quite so hard with mainly those two teams losing to lesser opponents. In other words UM might be able to take more advantage of the WIS, MSU, PSU, OSU gauntlet.
And finally, Shea is really good. Excellent at evading the pass rush, knowing when to run, finding who’s open, and most of all, an excellent downfield passer. My frustration is that it took until the second half for the coaches to let him loose. They are so fixated on getting a running game going with undersized RBs that they lose sight of having what would be a balanced offense if they bothered to rely on a passing game earlier. It’s like they have to force their running game to fail before they consider shifting to passing.

Catsby, you make a lot of good observations. One correction, though: Wilson and Samuels are 3rd and 4th on the depth chart. Higdon and Evans are 30 or so pounds heavier than the other two at around 210.
