This was a top-5 rivalry game when I was growing up in the early 90s - great to see them playing again.
really? maybe a top 5 rivalry in the Big 12. maybe.

Martinez is dangerous.  I hope he’s back in a couple weeks.  Other than that the Huskers shot themselves in the ass.  Frost will clean that up. Nebraska looks better than anticipated, especially the D.

WAY too many mistakes

some very stupid mistakes

I was hoping for better, but it was the first game with many young inexperienced players

We will see.  I'm a bit disappointed.

I thought the defense, especially the line, performed (significantly?) above expectations.

Yeah, they had seven sacks, I think,  they had like 7 sacks all of last season.

It's encouraging, but this was a PAC12 team, not Wisconsin or Iowa

Life is tough.  Football is tough.

I think the Huskers win this one and by a decent margin if they had the benefit of a warmup game.

Outside the turnovers, there were a lot of first game mistakes.   Unfortunately, CU had fewer because this was game 2.
based upon my expectations.... I thought the D was more aggressive and faster than I expected.   I thought the OL was more physical than expected.   WR's disappointed..... but Mo Barry is going to be good and the DL played like the DL's of the 90's.
Overall, they seem ahead of my own mental schedule.

I have seen the first half, and the last 1:41. I felt very differently between the two, LOL.

The Good

Any time you roll out a brand-new scheme with a questionable OL and a brand-new backfield, let alone one with a true freshman QB, and put up 565 yards, you are doing some things right. That said, 565 yards should get you more than 28 points. (Turnovers)

The defensive front looks salty, and pretty sharp. A couple of those LBs (Barry and Ferg) are legit mofos, and I think we have the DL to play with the better teams in the league. No stars there (Maybe Ben Stille, someday) but a pretty solid six

Seven sacks. (We had 14 last year) 1.3 YPC allowed. The kids HIT.

The Bad

Not a great day for pass pro, the WRs or secondary. The wides can recover, but the DBs and OL need a rebuild. DB is so bad that while Bo Pelini is about to be fired from his next coaching gig, we still have one of his dudes starting (Coincidentally, the same guy who committed the fatal PF). Along with another that transferred for UCF in the spring. Complete failure by Riley here.

That said, Shenault is a great receiver, and Montez was throwing strikes despite taking a beating. Colorado may be a pretty decent football team this year. Time will tell, but the much-panned Colorado State team they crushed last week defeated Arkansas on Saturday. That thunderstorm storm may have cost us 2 wins, and a bowl game.

the 2nd half is what disappointed me
thought the Huskers would keep the momentum from the 2nd quarter and play better in the 2nd half
the quicker pace and all the conditioning didn't seem to wear down the Buffs in the 4th quarter
