Badgers volleyball survived another tough one with PSU. Second straight time those two have gone to five sets. This team is gutsy--they've shown they can play through adversity. Good thing; it ain't getting any easier...

This tournament has been so, so good so far (unless you're a fan of a team that's knocked out, I guess). These last few rounds should be stellar.

Other than the Badgers, really curious to see how San Diego fares against Stanford. Impressive win over Kentucky, but now they get the big kids.

Also really interested to see Texas tilt with Ohio State. The Big Ten has looked really good in this tournament and Ohio State is rolling. But...Texas.

Some A+ matches today, topped off by San Diego reaching its first ever FF, upsetting Stanford 15-9 in the 5th set.    I think SD deserved that 1 seed.  Either way they move on to Omaha, along with Texas, Louisville and Pittsburgh.

Acc guaranteed to make the Finals for first time ever.  I hate to admit this but I think Big Ten was not as fabulous as people think this season.

Louisville grinded out a 5 set win at home vs Oregon.
Ducks with high entertainment this weekend.

Texas handled Ohio St in 4 sets.   I still think UT is team to beat.
Pittsburgh wins at Wisconsin.  Btw,  UW needs to do something with the lighting at the Field House.   Looks like a dungeon on TV.

I'll pull for Louisville and or San Diego.

btw: no Pac or B1G team in FF for first time ever.   Good small sample evidence of the growth of the game, which has been underway as it is this past decade IMO.

Women's Vball still without a woman coach to win a championship.   Two cracks at it this week. Nebraska native Dani Busboom and Louisville obviously going to be the rooting favorite in Omaha.

Tom Shatel asked John Cook how he felt about two of his former Huskers — Kayla Caffey and Keonilei Akana — making the Final Four with Texas. He didn’t want to talk about it.

“(Terry) Pettit said I should wear my USD shirt because I went to school there,” Cook said of San Diego, Texas’ semi final opponent.

There is legit discussion around Pittsburgh about the volleyball team.  It's a pro sports town, and aside from when Pitt was a consistent basketball contender for like a decade, they only pay attention to any Pitt sports (including football) when they are a national story.  I think this would parallel any Pitt football or basketball coverage in the past decade.

After a error prone first set,  Texas simply had too many options AND something we simply haven't seen from UT in high leverage matches,  competent  high quality serve receive.   Fleck and Halter did a great job stepping in to take serves pretty much all night.  Philips and Skinner were dominant against SD block.   Eggleston was a no show for the first half of the match, but Texas with too much offense (and block). SD very formidable but not so good in transition.

Pitt v UL was pretty entertaining, even with a train wreck 5th set for Pitt.   Don't see 15-2 much anymore, not in rally scoring.   I remember N beat Wisconsin 15-1 in a final back in side out scoring, but not in rally.   UL blocked everything in sight.  Chaussee and the serving by Louisville was superb.

Yeah that first set was pretty sloppy, but SR cleaned up a lot in this match compared to most of the rest of the season (and most past seasons).

Every team at this level can win, this final match should be fun to watch.

I find volleyball to be more nerve-wracking than any other sport, when my favorite team is playing.  Anyone else like that?
