looks like San Diego got short straw on the top 4 seeds.   I'm not surprised, they had a pretty good case.

B1G with only six bids (UW/N/Minn/tOSU/PSU/Purdue).   Every time it looked like IU, Maryland, or NW looked tourney worthy, they fell short.   Wonder what will happen with Michigan's Rosen (who took a med leave late).    Nebraska leaking oil lineup issues with Knuckles finished w ACL, setter injuries/inconsistency and then Whitney going out with an illness past week.

Hard to pick against UT but that's why they play.

I haven't been able to catch many matches at all in Oct or November so feel way less dialed in than most years.    Too much travel and other obligations.     I think SD at BYU and Louisville at Pitt were the only two watched live this month.   Really clueless on roster health and who's NPOY candidates.    I'm guessing Eggleston.?

Having a setter, serve and pass will decide it as usual.  )

Horns handle their first round matchup. Fairleigh Dickinson, now they'll face off against CD's Bulldogs tonight in Austin.  I wonder if he knows? :)

Probably know this FF but in addition to Knuckles out for year, setter N. Hames may be done as well.   Big Hit Whit didn't play last night either for Nebraska.   Hard to see a scenario where they get through a regional.

super chalky sweet 16 next week, only one '4' seed got beat (that being Creighton which sadly couldn't overcome the loss of its setter, lost to Auburn in 5, then UH took down Auburn).   Luvl took out Purdue today.  I'm not certain of this, but UH might the only team never to reach the sweet sixteen before, don't think they have.      Of trivial note, Nebraska extended its unbeaten streak vs KU to 88 by sweeping Kansas in the second round.   Chalk almost never holds through 2nd weekend, I'd bet UT, Stanford (would love to see SD pull it out),  UF, and Louisville.

Austin
Texas v Marquette
tOSU v Minnesota

Palo Alto
San Diego v Kentucky
Houston v Stanford

Madison
Wisconsin v Penn St
Florida v Pitt

Louisville
Nebraska v Oregon
Louisville v Baylor

When you have 3 setters you have 0 setters.     Pretty grueling five setter.  That Oregon Freshman OH is spectacular.  Both had plenty of chances to win.  Running out subs without having Knuckles available  was a problem as we saw the past couple weeks  Congrats to Ducks.

Glad to see Marquette win a set at UT after getting run the first two sets.

Buckeyes and Louisville cruised.

I, on the other hand, was less than enthused about that. :)

For those rhat aspire to take down UT, that 3rd set was a how to print.   Service pressure and superior passing.  MU setter was really dynamic.
