makes sense. he's just not that good imo. he already lost his job at USC, then Georgia. does he have to sit out a year? I thought the portal was a one time no sit deal.

These QBs making 2+ moves......it's sad.  Everyone needs to start, everyone needs to get to the NFL, everyone's the exception.

Gotta love ESPN headlines:

STAR PASS-RUSHER RETURNS TO UGA

Who?  Nolan Smith.

3.5 sacks.............in 15 games

They're impressive.

No pass rusher with more than six sacks ... in 15 games. But 20th in sack rate.

(The ESPN headline game is perpetually interesting. A fun exercise in reading things into other things, when the reasoning is usually mundane. That said, not a great headline.)

Fun update on the "The SEC is only Bama" narrative:  3 different SEC national champions in the past 3 years.

How far back do you have to go for 3 B1G NC winners?  Try 56 years.  And it's still 24 if you want to count Nebraska in '97.
ACC?  31 years.  (20 if you count Miami in '01)
PAC?  67 years. (31 if you count CU in '90)

It's a joke.
3 different NCs in the past 3 years.
4 in the past 12.
5 in the past 14.
6 in the past 23.

The "All Bama" narrative is literally the opposite of the reality of it.  Every other conference suffers from a lack of variety at the top, not the SEC.

well, it was all Forida back in the 80s hayday of Miami, FSU, and the gators

plenty of MNC's but then it all fell apart

not saying SEC dominance will fall apart soon, just saying,..........

like Nebraska in the 90s and the state of Florida in the 80's and 90's, ........... nothing lasts forever

UGA will be interesting in 2022 with the QB situation and rebuilding the defense.  I expect a step back obviously, it could be a rather largish step, though they will be favored to win the East again.  I don't know where Florida will be in Year One, probably a threat.  Bama has shown how to reload, and UGA has recruited at a high level, so they can reload, they also play younger folks in rotations like Bama does.  Kirby is obviously trying to mimic Saban's methods.

As noted there is a lot of upheaval elsewhere with half the teams with new coaches (counting those with one year in already).  The Vols seem to be on an upswing, but from a low level and they need to restock talent.  They could upset someone next year with that offense.  UK seems solidly "good" now, but not great.  Arkansas is trying to do the Bama thing as well, Sam Pittman, and is building another solid team that lacks elite talent at this point.  LSU?  Whew.

A&M oddly enough is also doing a Bama, or trying.  They are amassing talent and the NIL thing is large there.  They play Bama in Tloosa next season.
