The Wisconsin game will have an 11 a.m. start and an ESPN telecast.

THIS WEEK IN HUSKER HISTORY
The week of Nov. 11-17, looking back in five-year intervals

1897: There are hard feelings all around after Nebraska beats Kansas in Lincoln. To this day, the schools disagree on the final score -- 10-5 or 6-5.
1902: After a 7-0 win over Knox in the mud, there's praise for the Cornhuskers, who haven't yielded a point all season, and the university gets ready to seek admission into the Western Conference.

1912: Two long-distance touchdowns in the fourth quarter -- a 70-yard run by Ernest Frank and a 75-yard interception return by Warren Howard -- rally Nebraska to a 14-3 win over Kansas in Lincoln.
1917: A 35-yard run by quarterback John Cook in the third quarter turns the tide in a 13-3 win at Kansas.

1922: Husker tackle Ray Weller blocks a punt for a safety and deflects a pass that gets returned for a touchdown as NU rolls to a 28-0 win at Kansas.

1932: NU damages Pitt's national title hopes by outplaying the Panthers in a 0-0 tie in Lincoln.

1937: Despite being badly outyarded, the Huskers carry a 7-0 lead into the fourth quarter at No. 1 Pitt, but the Panthers pull out the win, 13-7.

1942: Pitt scores on a deflected pass to defeat visiting Nebraska, 6-0. Adding to the frustration, two third-quarter Nebraska possessions reached the Pitt five-yard line but resulted in no points.

1952: Paul Giel does most of the damage as Minnesota downs the Huskers, 13-7, in Lincoln. The game featured the final touchdown of Bobby Reynolds' Nebraska career.

1962: Boosters pass the hat for a $200,000 life insurance policy for Bob Devaney in hopes of keeping other schools from luring him away. Meanwhile, the Huskers improve to 8-1 by shutting out Oklahoma State, 14-0.

1967: The Blackshirts notch a third consecutive shutout, a 9-0 win over Oklahoma State.

1972: The Huskers escape with a 23-23 tie at Iowa State when the Cyclones miss the extra point after scoring a touchdown in the final 30 seconds.

1977: I.M. Hipp rushes for 200 yards and Rick Berns picks up 107 in a 52-7 romp over Kansas.

1987: Nebraska leapfrogs Oklahoma into the No. 1 spot in the AP and UPI polls during the week off preceding the two teams' showdown in Lincoln. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys release John Dutton, ending the former Husker defensive lineman's 14-year NFL career.

1992: After two big wins over ranked teams, the Huskers fall 19-10 to a 3-6 Iowa State team in Ames.
Osborne's only loss to a sub 500 team - Tommie Frazier started as a Freshman

2012: Taylor Martinez becomes Nebraska's career passing leader as the Huskers roll past Minnesota, 38-14.

From Husker writer Dave Feit...............

5 fan candidates who are never, ever coaching here
Urban Meyer. He's not coming here. If you think he should be, I question your judgment.
Deion Sanders. Is Coach Prime ready for a Power 5 team? Is Nebraska ready for Coach Prime? One of those is a definite "no."
Lane Kiffin. He'd be a lot of fun, but I don't see Nebraska paying enough to grab a coach from an SEC team in the top 15.
Bret Bielema. Given what he's done at Wisconsin and Illinois, he clearly knows what he's doing. But unless the terms of his contract included removal of his Hawkeye tattoo, I couldn't sleep at night.
Jeff Monken. Remember in 2014 when Husker fans had to Google to find out who Mike Riley was? In 2022, it would be "Alexa, who the heck is Jeff Monken?"

Urban Meyer, Deion Sanders, and Lance Leipold would head my list, not necessarily in the same order. Stay clear of Levar Woods and Phil Parker for my own selfish reasons.
Don't bring in Jimbo Fisher because we don't want our midwestern neighborhood going to hell. He just grates me like fingernails on a chalkboard.

If I were Phil Parker(I'm not) I'd be looking for a job anywhere with a decent offense

Nebraska must really like sucking then, because all 5 of those guys can seriously coach football. Hire another Bill Callahan or Bo Pelini why don't ya.

Jimbo has Brian's problems and shares his advantages, as well. Somehow they are immune from removal.

I take it you eliminated Matt Rhule already?  Jimbo Fisher?  LOL, Bo Pelini?  I told you years ago  firing him was a mistake.

The only coach I've seen mentioned that would worry me is Urban Meyer, but yes, he has baggage.

He would be a worry.  But I don't think Aranda would leave Baylor for Nebraska.  A California school maybe.
