Steven Sipple says Baylor’s Dave Aranda matches up well* with the qualities Trev Alberts is looking for in a coach.

I don't agree Campbell is overrated. What is underappreciated is coaches who come out of the top programs of D-III. Leipold and Campbell came out of top D-III programs where they must develop players. It is what is required at places like Kansas, Iowa State, Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska, -- and to a lesser extent at Michigan.
I agree that of the two, I'd hire Leipold.
you need to develop players at any school. period. you think Alabama or Ohio State is good just because they recruit? They also develop those recruits. what a helmet like Michigan can do that those others can't- recruit top kids nationally. Michigan under Lloyd Carr in the late 90s and early 2000s was getting top 5 classes like clock work and getting top kids from all over the country. They had one class where they got the #1 WR, #2 WR, and #1 RB in the nation- none of them from the Midwest. David Terrell was from Virginia, Marquise Walker was from New York, and Justin Fargas was from California.

llinois head football coach Bret Bielema seems to have a case of amnesia when it comes to a particular decade-old game in Lincoln, but it's not hard to imagine why.

During his press conference Monday ahead of the Fighting Illini's game this weekend at Nebraska, Bielema was asked about his experiences with the environment at Nebraska's Memorial Stadium.

He mentioned the loudness and intensity of the crowd as he recalled a visit to Memorial Stadium in 2000 as an Iowa assistant and another trip to Lincoln in 2003 when he was on the Kansas State staff.

"That was the last time I was there because we didn't play them during my tenure at Wisconsin at their place," he said.

A matchup that in recent years has been pivotal in deciding fifth place in the Big Ten’s West Division carries more stakes for the 17th-ranked Illini this time. They’re alone atop the league’s west side after consecutive wins over  Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota – the first time the program has beaten those three in the same season since 1983. They’ve never played in any of the 11 B1G title games.
