REPORT: Tennessee Football Program Under NCAA Investigation
« on: December 20, 2020, 09:26:55 AM »
Pruitt learned at the feet of the masters when it comes to cheating coaching at BAMA.

This shows just how bad the coaching is when they still can't win. Hopefully we won't have to vacate the three wins this year.

This is a show cause to vacate all the contracts and walk away from this disaster and I mean all of it Fulmer included. He brought it on and is part of it with lack of institutional control.

Now maybe we can get an AD that knows something and hires a decent coach.

Who says there isn't a Santa Clause.  :13:

The Tennessee football program is under investigation for alleged recruiting violations and impermissible benefits to current student-athletes, according to a report from Trey Wallace of Fox Sports Knoxville.

The NCAA and Tennessee’s own compliance department are involved in the investigation.

“The University’s general counsel has been interviewing subjects that are the focus of the investigation over the past several weeks,” Wallace’s report said. “Multiple sources suggest the investigation dates back to at least early December.”

Tennessee backup quarterback Brian Maurer and starting running back Eric Gray were held out of Saturday’s game against Texas A&M, but there was no reason given for their absence. Defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley and running backs coach Jay Graham were also missing.

The alleged violations involve current Tennessee players along with recruits. There are multiple assistant coaches, staffers and players who have been questioned as part of the investigation. Wallace’s report specifically named inside linebackers coach Brian Niedermeyer.

“In keeping with our institutional commitment to compliance, we often look closely at regulatory issues that are brought to our attention via internal or external channels,” the University told Wallace. “Maintaining compliance is a shared responsibility, and active monitoring is part of that process.”

Wallace says the University will continue the investigation and that the football program has fully complied thus far.

Could well be minor technical violations.

Bruce Pearl got the axe from the NCAA for "ONE" impermissible benefit.   Inviting a recruit to his house for a cheeseburger.

Pearl got axed because he lied to the NCAA about the BBQ at his house.   The BBQ was no big deal, but the lying was.

He got the axe for lying about it, if he been honest he would still be there
President Harry S. Truman said: “The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings…  If we don't have the proper fundamental moral background, we will finally wind up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the state.”

agree...had Peal not lied to the NCAA over a minor infraction he would still be at UT.
BTW...listened to both Hyams and Matthews morning shows this morning. Both seemed to downplay the infractions. At this time the NCAA is not involved. It was a self reported infraction that is still internal within the Compliance Dept. Was self reported by someone within the AD.
This could change later if something serious is found but for now it's a little overblown.

Yeah, I wondered about that.  Self-reporting of secondary violations is not unusual.   If someone within the AD reported it, that could mean the system is working as designed.  "Lack of institutional control" is where things start to get ugly.

It seems we have some more worried about telling me I'm wrong than they are about the possible rules violations by coaches at Tennessee.  Heaven forbid that anyone won should rain on their parade by pointing out dishonesty smudging their orange colored glasses.

So what do you homers think recruiting violations and impermissible benefits are other than lying?

If anyone isn't following the rules they're not being honest about what their doing they're hiding it so they're lying.

Pearl was accused of misleading the NCAA when he said he didn't know where the photo came from.

It's all misleading and lies when anyone operates outside the rules.

They always down play things Matthews wouldn't say anything bad about Tennessee football if you paid him to he's a sunshine pumper.

The NCAA and Tennessee’s own compliance department are involved in the investigation.

No Gym...UT is my university along with 1000's of other alums and fans. I don't want anything  to harm the university or it's reputation.
I'm hoping this is a minor infraction ...not to save anyone's job but to preserve the university.
If Pruitt is guilty of major infractions I'll be all in on getting rid of him. I'm just not one of those lusting to fire anyone and everyone just for sake of firing someone and starting all over again.
I swear I believe there are those that would fire Smokey, the groundskeeper and the band director just to get off on the pure  joy of firing someone.
That's what got us where we are today.

Btw...The UT Compliance Dept has not completed its investigation so the NCAA is not involved.
UT has not received any notice from the NCAA so unless the NCAA is violating their own rules they at not involved....yet
I have no doubt UT has notified the NCAA but that's probably the extent of their involvement.

Just now saw this:

After five years with the Tennessee Volunteers, quarterback Jarrett Guarantano has entered the transfer portal and will play his sixth year of college football somewhere else.

Hope he does well wherever he's going and the folks here will finally let it rest. It's been embarrassing how some so called fans have made personal attacks on him.
