Breaking down UT at UF
« on: September 20, 2019, 03:39:26 PM »

  • turnovers... UT has to take them.
  • protect JG... UF blew Miami up wit DL getting through.  This game is pivoting on this aspect alone- they HAVE to give JG protection and long enough for the play to develop.
  • JG has to check them down, and not target his preferred target, and drop the rock in on time. If JG is solid, the O will produce.  He's on the cusp of breaking through.
  • The D has to keep pressure on the UF backfield perpetually, and with the DL or LB's alone; they have to stay on the receivers long enough for the pressure to cause a UF mistake.
  • Special Teams has to be tighter than ever- field position and controlling the clock is almost as crucial as protecting JG and giving O skill positions time to develop (worth saying twice).
  • Coach Pruitt has to let the team present themselves sans the helicopter parent approach.  They are what they are, and he's gonna have to turn them loose in that swamp and trust in his preparation- playing on a leash is detrimental on many levels and impacts more than this game alone... he's gotta show his faith, regardless of demanding fans and administration, and cut those boys loose.

The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win...

Jauan Jennings will throw a touchdown pass.

Ty Chandler will break a TD run over 60 yards.

One of our DL will have a pic - can't quite tell which one (could be Taylor?).

Guarantano will be injured, but will finish the game.

Vols in a mild upset.

Damn.   The curse of fuzzy strikes again.   Why, oh why fuzzy?   Why couldn't you have picked Florida?

I've lost a lot of bets when betting with my heart.

We have to face facts, we couldn't beat teams like Ga. State or BYU at home so what makes anyone think UT will beat the Gayturds in the swamp?

We still have the same coaches who plays the same QB which hasn't performed to the hype so I for one am not looking for an upset.

They beat a good KY at home and it wasn't a fluke the guy that replaced Franks at QB is solid. One thing Mullen can do and that is develop good quarterbacks.  Their third string QB is better than our starter and I don't even know his name.

Florida's defense is ranked 20th nationally and defense wins ball games.

Florida is going to crush the Vols.

Pruitt is going try an on-sides kick to start the game, setting up Florida with a short field.  They'll march down and score a touchdown as it looks like our DL is on roller skates.

Gators will also score a special teams touchdown on a long punt return early.

Guarantano will loose one fumble and throw one pic.  His longest completed pass from scrimmage all game will be for 18 yards.

Jauan Jennings will also fumble - he needs to learn to get down and give up on a play.

Harrison Bailey will tweet that he's "opening up his recruitment" after the game, and the writing will be on the wall for Pruitt.

I'll tell Roady, "I told ya so," and he'll say I've already proven that don't know anything about Tennessee or SEC football.

I hate to admit but half of what you posted may be true especially the part about JG.  We better hope he can hold it down to one INT and one fumble. I'm not real sure about an onside kick to start the game.

The biggest thing will be how many times JG gets sacked for holding onto the ball to long and not throwing it away.

If Harrison Bailey decommits it will be after the season is over when he will see if the younger quarterbacks get a chance to play.  If they don't he's out of here.

Sorry, Texie.  Tried to salvage the jinx, but this one's on me.

The Vols look lost and confused to me, no real starting QB, no real defense, no real identity, and they are about to face the tough part of their slate, at 1-3.

This is obviously a mess.  I did see more effort and intensity at least than against GS.
