I wonder how much that's going to move the line?

I love these regional games that never happen.  GT and TN could've played a lot over the years, but they haven't.  Good to see these 2 square off.

Some similar potential games would be like Auburn-FSU, LSU-Texas, Ohio St-WV, etc.

Auburn FSU was very much a rivalry of sorts in the early 80's.  I went to several of those games

South Point went to -4. Treasure Island took the game off the board. Sounds like a broken record. Both did the exact same thing with Michigan-UF when the UF players were suspended.

We never get a chance at UAT players, because they get so many chance there and only get kicked off the team after they almost kill someone, then the "Barn" can't even take them.  :73:

I remember the 1985 game when Daryl Dickey was getting his first start after Tony Robinson suffered a broken leg.

It was like Majors was playing not to lose by not letting Dickey do a whole with the offense and we barely ended up in a 6-6 tie. We should have beat them like a drum.

I hope we do better this year than in 1985.

Usually, extra time to prepare for Tech is good (bowl games etc.).  I like Tenn in this one, but not by much.

Should be an interesting game.

i tend to agree with you... GT is hard to play sandwiched between two proset's or spreads... methinks that's half their strategy for winning.

UGA practices getting off blocks and does better when they have two weeks to prepare.  They come at your feet obviously the entire game.  If a defender can hop back and hop over the blocks he can maintain his feet and make the play (obv).

It's not the kind of thing you practice much against routine offenses, and it means you are not practicing against other facets of their game.  The scout team will have a tough time emulating their offense at full speed.

UT lost Kirkland today... pretty damn good linebacker... indefinitely... damn.

Quote
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee junior middle linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. underwent knee surgery on Wednesday and will not play Monday night against Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

Vols’ coach Butch Jones announced Kirkland suffered a torn meniscus at his press conference, saying there is not yet a timetable for his return.

Kirkland suffered the injury in Friday’s practice in what Jones described as “bizarre” fashion.
“It was one of those bizarre things that happens in football,” Jones said. “Somebody just fell over, it was non-contact.”
Tennessee’s newly released depth chart indicates senior Colton Jumper will start at middle linebacker in place of Kirkland, and senior Dillon Bates is listed as the backup.

Kirkland had underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in June and missed the start of fall drills. The 6-foot-1, 238-pound junior from Indianapolis worked hard to get back to 100 percent, and was starting to flex his muscle when the injury occurred.
“I give that young man a lot of credit, obviously football means everything to him,” Jones said. “I expect him to come back from this and be bigger and better and stronger.”
Tennessee defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said during the offseason that it would be a key for the defense to get Kirkland Jr. back healthy.
Kirkland Jr. suffered a high ankle sprain against Virginia Tech the second game of last season and was less than 100 percent when he returned for the South Carolina game on Oct. 28.
A solid offseason was slowed again in April, when Kirkland suffered a pulled hamstring and was one of 23 players who missed the Orange and White Game.

Ok, UT....UF and TAMU have already claimed each division's allotment of losses for opening week.

Stick it to the bees or you're out of the conference.
