You know, I had totally forgotten that he was at Tennessee for a hot minute.

Jeez, another thing I've lost track of is all the specific reasons I don't like the guy.  These days, I only sense my general distaste for him.

I don't begrudge a guy for taking another job.  I do have a problem with the way he's left, in a lot of cases.  And in other cases, for not giving an answer to people trying to hire him in a timely manner.

He just seems like a grimy little pimp.

But there are plenty of not-great guys in college athletics, some have worked at my own school and some probably still do, so it's tough to throw stones.

I was looking at LSU's early schedule this morning, and though I realized I probably won't remember this year's games any better than I remember the last several years', the early slate should still be interesting, even if I don't care much.

Week 1 - Clemson - that should be interesting just for being a recently successful P5 team for an opener.  And there will probably be a lot of curiosity about what LSU looks like under Kiffin.

Week 3 - Ole Miss - I expect the national interest level will be up for that one, not to mention the two fanbases.  If Oxford treats Kiffin the way we treated Saban when he returned to Death Valley, he's in for an epic heckling.

Week 4 - Texas A&M - always interesting, and iirc, they're the team who caused the admin to fire Brian Kelly, so that's something of a story-line.

On the same webpage I was looking at last year's games and I can't believe how many of these games I don't remember.  I never thought there would come a time when I didn't remember which teams we played on which years, or who won.  For example, I see we played Vanderbilt last year, and Houston in the bowl game, and lost to both.  All I could say to that is "That sounds right, from my general impression of last year."  Also we appear to have played Florida very early, and I was like WTF?  What's that about?

I'm pretty sure it's not because I'm old or because the team has been mediocre or poor.  I remember details of many awful seasons, so it's not just bad seasons or failing memory.  No, the fact that I vividly recall seasons up to the point that the sport just started leaving me behind signifies why I haven't cared enough to remember these games, even though I still watch them.

So by this time next year, I don't expect to necessarily remember these games or their results, but at the moment I can say that at the time I watch them, they'll probably be "interesting."
I think I posted up a thread about this a few years ago...how I used to really follow every season, I knew the outcome of every game, could tell you about what the score was, a synopsis of every game, why we won, why we lost, etc.  Even in the down years.  Then somewhere around 2007ish I basically stopped remembering individual seasons and individual games.  I vaguely know some of the details, but I couldn't tell you exactly what happened in Bowl seasons, who our best players were, and what our final record was.  But then I realized, life gets busy, and CFB is just supposed to be a distraction, it's OK for your interest to wax and wane.

Oh, and I just noticed, no Florida this year.  When's the last time that happened?
Part of the consequences of expanding the SEC.

Of course, you can bet Bama/UTenn is safe, as is Florida/Georgia.

Oh, and did you notice we (A&M) go back to Baton Rouge?  We played there last year, and back again this year.  Thanks expanded SEC schedule!

I don't know the 2026 A&M SEC schedule by heart, but it's frickin' brutal.

@LSU week 4 as mentioned
@ Mizzou Week 6
@Bama Week 8
@South Carolina week 9
UT at home (of the Tennessee kind) week 10
@OU Week 11
UT at home Week 12

Non Con games: Arizona State, Missouri State, Citadel.

We'll be damned lucky to go 8-4.

Yeah, we go back to Ole Miss as well after playing there last year.  Of all the games to force a double-dip on, they clearly chose that one on purpose, lol.

The Ags have a tough schedule for sure, but still no Georgia.  That's pretty crazy.

Personally I'm delighted to have them off the schedule this season.
