Yeah, I just heard Chris Fowler mention that last night during the Raiders/Falcons game.  I thought "Wow, that's weird."  Can't remember the last time I watched a cfb game on TNT.  And a playoff game, at that. 

YTTV has TNT so you should be fine. 

Correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't it you I was talking to a year or two ago about cord-cutter services like YTTV and you were telling me that your cable bundle with internet still made it well worth your while to use them?  (Spectrum, maybe?)  Because I think it's the same company we have here (Spectrum is the only cable option here) and I remember thinking "Pfft, Spectrum sure doesn't run any deals like that 'round here."  If that was you, what made you jump to YTTV? 

The Spectrum streaming-only television service bundled with Spectrum internet was cheaper than YTTV plus the (increased/unbundled) internet-only Spectrum.  And there's no fiber to my house so Spectrum is the only provider for broadband internet that I have available.  

But about a year ago the Spectrum price had crept up enough and the YTTV price had remained static enough that they got pretty close, and YTTV has a LOT more channels than the Spectrum streaming service I was using, plus YTTV has cloud-DVR and the Spectrum streaming service had no DVR and no options for pause/rewind live TV.  So we finally cut the cord and switched.  Spectrum Internet (unbundled) plus YTTV was still a little more last I checked, but the added utility/features and much larger channel lineup were worth it to me, to switch.


Now that YYTV is going up, it might be swinging back the other way.   This is what completely sucks about all this and I'm tempted to just drop it all after football season.

Channel surfing, mainly.  It's way easier to zoom around several different stations and keep up with several different games with cable/satellite because it's so much faster.  YTTV added the very nice "skip" function to the Firestick platform this year, but that still only alternates between two channels, and it's still slower.  Surfing 4 games at once as I used to do takes serious speed and preferably a remote that lets you alternative more than two channels. 

The same thing applies to just checking out what's on another station.  I can't just punch in a number on a firestick remote or even my phone.  I have to scroll to a listing on the home page--if it's listed--or scroll down to a channel on the live menu, which takes a while compared to hitting "256" or whatever on a traditional remote.

There's another thing that doesn't affect me as much because we don't watch anything other than football, but if we ever decided to watch actual TV, YTTV (at least on the Firestick platform, which is how we access it in the living room) has a noticeable lag between the video and the audio.  People's mouths are never synced with the words coming out of them, and it's intolerable.  The worst part of football broadcasts is when the camera shows the announcers in the booth and their mouths don't match what they're saying.  

Same here.  I might watch something on my laptop if I'm on vacation and really desperate, but virtually never on my phone or a tablet.  If I'm gonna watch something, I'm gonna be on my couch or in my recliner all comfy in front of a big screen. 

Might be a generational thing.  My stepson watches crap for hours on end on his laptop in his room.  There is a TV in his room and we gave him the old Firestick with all our apps still logged in, but he eschews it in favor of his laptop.  He'll even watch stuff on his phone.  

I use YTTV, mostly as a holdover from my old TV watching habits. I don't watch much non-sports TV any more. If I'm watching, it's usually on a service like Hulu or Max.
YTTV is good for sports, and streams well. I wish the ESPNs and FOXs of the world would realize that they've got plenty of cash for multiple 4k rigs to be deployed around the nation. They only seem to want to offer one 4k game at a time, when really they have the ability to encode and transmit as many as they want to without much additional overhead. Since the receiving bandwidth can only be consumed one at a time, it won't overtax the network to have multiple available.

Wonder how UGA will feel if they meet Texas again and lose.  They're probably gonna feel like Texas is a horror movie monster.....how many times do you have to kill the things before it's really dead?
