One of the stories for the upcoming Texas-Clemson game that I expect to get hammered into the ground over the next couple of weeks, is the Ewers vs. Klubnik rematch.  They played one another in the Texas 6A State Title game back in 2021, and here they are facing off once again in the CFP.

Outcome of that first game?  Klubnik's Austin Westlake team topped Ewers' Southlake Carroll squad for the state championship.  Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself!

I guess we'll see whether or not Texas left its shotgun in Atlanta, and won't be able to blast numerous holes in its own feet.  Not having SEC refs call the game will be a tremendous advantage for Texas, so that's nice.

Unfortunately, Texas appears to pack that shotgun for most every game, and brandish it once or twice per contest, fully loaded.  

The wife has started experiencing digestive problems every time Ewers throws the ball in the RZ.  She watches most all of our games and tells me she doesn't know how our fans' nerves can handle it.  I tell her it's not that bad, and Texas' adventures only affect her the way they do because Texas is good, and playing meaningful games with a legit chance at a championship.  

Texas also defeated Vandy, on the road, making it a very special season.

They certainly "should" have beaten UGA as well.

To get ahead of ourselves, SEC schedules were released last week. The Longhorns have a bad one, not in the sense of an impossible schedule like Florida's, but there's a 5-week stretch of no home games. Texas won't play at home for all of October, which I find terrible; October is college football best weather month.

Thinking about why this is, the weekends of October 4 & 11 will occupy Austin with the Austin City Limits Music Festival, filling up all the hotels and restaurants. Then for the weekend of October 18, Austin hosts the F1 race.

ACL is always an October event since the 70s, but now that it's a 2-weekend event and the F1 race is a recent addition to a crowded October calendar, I guess this will be the norm for Texas going forward? Minimal October home games?

I cut the cord several years ago, back when YouTube TV and Hulu Live TV were just $35 and $40, respectively.  Plus there were more options back in those days. 

YouTube TV has announced another price increase of $10/month, bringing their monthly subscription to $83/month.  At this point it approaches cable prices, but still with the decreased functionality of a streaming service.  The only convenience is no contract, and I can turn it off with the click of a button.  Which we usually do after the Superbowl. 

This time, however, I'm not sure I'll turn it back on. 

CFB is a declining product for me, and not one I'm sure I'm willing to pay nearly 85 bucks a month for anymore. 

I'll be investigating another couple of new things that might be decent alternatives.  If you live somewhere you can easily get network channels like ABC over the air, Sling is still a pretty good option for the ESPN networks.  But I don't.

Speaking of weird TV, I just looked at the schedule and it says Texas-Clemson will be on TNT/MAX.  I had no idea either of those even carried college football.

Now I gotta figure out if I have that.  I think my i s c & a aggie wife is watching something on Max right now so I guess we have that.  And I think TNT is standard on my YoutubeTV.  But it's weird that I'm actually going to have to check that and confirm.
