Good morning!!
A few nice games today leading up to the bloodbath in Columbus next weekend.
Lots of eyeballs will be looking to Lincoln, at least for a half or so. I'll be watching from a safe distance.
The cream of the crop is after dark. Looking forward to those games as two of the B1G powers travel to opposite sides of the country. MSU at Washington and PSU at Auburn.
My guys play Jerry's (Kill) kids.
Chicken Parm tonight. I'm meeting a friend for lunch so that's handled.
What's going on in your world?
-
I posted about this in another thread. I could not get the filet from the butcher - sold out. Possibly getting more today but I didn't want to chance it.
So, I'll make it next weekend.
Yep, I love pretty much all blue cheese varietals. One of the best ways to eat it (other than by itself) is to top a filet mignon, on top of a perfectly cooked beet.
I make a sauce with the cheese, cream, cracked pepper and finely grated garlic and shallots.
Plate the beet, top it with the meat, and then the sauce.
This might happen tomorrow. No. It WILL happen tomorrow.

Chicken Parm? What time should I be over?
I almost went to that Columbus game, but scheduling pushed back that trip to October. Not too busted up.
Started today with some light insomnia, but it got me moving in time for a slightly leisurely 6.5-mile run (my speed has been improving, which is welcome). The humidity dropped this week, which is good, but it's given me a sinus-related sour throat that I can't kick. Think I should make a grocery run before kickoff, but breakfast is the last of some leftover Indian food.
-
Probably gonna serve at the end of the 3:30's ??
Not sure. That would be a helluva drive at high speeds though.
Probably rain check that one too.
-
I'm gonna try to keep an eye on the Cal-ND game today. An ND win would be the first for the new coach (0-3).
Not sure Cal has the offense to score much on that ND defense, which looks really good. I think the key will be Cal's defense stuffing the ND offense, which is now on QB2.
-
Woke up in Lincoln.
Headed to Harry's tailgate now.
It'll be bar food all day and night.
Hoping for the best
Go BIG Red!!!

Morning all, going to an all dayer. Old Buds have a rather well stocked get together all in place, all going golfing in the AM.I'm going over later to fire the grills up.Old Friend/family moving to AZ as his one daughters out of school and the other will becoming a Sun Devil. Two TVs out on his patio.New decks of cards on the tables can smell the onions, peppers shrooms right now.Ribs,steaks,briskett,yee-haw. Going to be in the low 80s - almost ruining it ;D.Friend Scott is not liking the move as she has family out there but like me hates the oppresive heat. And AZ has been more than toasty this summer. He's hammered out an agreement his wife he will be splitting time there and back here along the lake 👍.Enjoy the day and Go Bucks

Headed to the lake today, I'll be back in time for the UT game at 7 and the Ags-Miami game at 8.
We're going to eat at a restaurant on the water, pricey but good. Fusion of Tex-Mex and Hawaiian.

GO BIG RED!
We Badgers appreciate the support.
-
Home made cinnamon pancakes for breakfast. Chores this morning then lots of football.
-
Got some coaching to do this morning so will miss first half of big noon. No heavy cooking, long week. Some decent games under lights tonight.
-
Did Maximum Sam break all of his typing fingers, or what?
-
They just brought Fearless up on state, on Big Noon Kickoff.
-
Did Maximum Sam break all of his typing fingers, or what?
Emailed him but have not heard back, nice to see Anonymous Coward reappear also. Hope all is well with both

West suburbs,I'm not going to the course as i got a pinched nerve, plus getting over a leg infection .I won't get covid or the flu but I can depend on those paying me avisit. I heard the boys mention Royal Crest or Mallard Creek
-
No football for me today. Currently on 94 in BFE, WI with the Mrs and my folks en route to the baptism of my nephew. It's been a steady diet of Kwik Trip breakfast sandwiches so far. Chow should be decent once we get there, though. Someone is roasting a whole hog.
-
Well play pig then 😎,safe travels

No kidding. I grew up playing those as well as Emerald Woods, which I hear they leveled to build houses. Haven’t been to them in years, but I loved playing those. Hope you feel better my man.
-
Touchdown Nebraska!
-
Fro will be gleeful that Nebraska and Oklahoma are "twelving" one last time, for old times sake.
-
I don't recall a guard ever stepping on the tackle's foot next to him, causing an easy sack before. Hmmph.
USCe can give UGA fits sometimes, but with 5 defensive starters out, I'm watching the old Big 8 matchup. Nebraska's QB keeps getting sacked. He should try something different.
-
Fro will be gleeful that Nebraska and Oklahoma are "twelving" one last time, for old times sake.
All nostalgic and stuff...
-
Michigan looks a little sluggish vs UCONN and still up 17-0 in 1st qtr. Stating the obvious but….UCONN stinks lol.
-
Miami has a two score lead on the Bearcats, in the Bengals stadium. EspnU.

Ya went there a few times used to go down the road to Riverside on the corner of Sprague & E.River Rd(252).Kind of flat no frills fairly long with plenty of rough. Shame they are both gone now but I haven't been swinginging the clubs for quite some time either.A contractor friend who'll I'll be seeing later built a beautiful home off of Snell think it sold for like 650,000 a year ago. That was 20 yrs back though then not long after he got divorced :o. He said he could build it but not afford to buy it. then 3-4 yrs ago he hit the ohio lottery for 350,000 - after taxes he got a little over 200,000. Unfortunately he had leukemia on/off but had been holding his own
-
Miami(OH) giving the Fighting Fickell's the what for 17-7
-
JJ 8-11 Wolvies up by 24 early in the 2nd
-
Uhh, iit's not twelvinig if only 1 team keeps scoring. That's called a blowout.
-
AJ Henning is so explosive. Michigan really has some nice skill position players. Ronnie Bell, Cornelius Johnson, Roman Wilson, Erick All, AJ Henning, Andrel Anthony, Blake Corum, and Donovan Edwards is a nice crew.
-
Miami(OH) giving the Fighting Fickell's the what for 17-7
What are they doing on the Bengals turf? Is it going to be at a neutral site from now on?
Brian Kelly used to be adamant that they should stop playing the Redhawks on the road. Haven't heard much about it since then.
-
Uhh, iit's not twelvinig if only 1 team keeps scoring. That's called a blowout.
I may have overplayed the odds, after each team scored easily on their opening drive.
-
WKU threatening to go up by 2 scores on Indiana.
-
NU looking like crap against SOUTHERN Illinois.
IU looking like crap against WESTERN Kentucky.
Damn.
-
Indiana's losing to W Kentucky.
Northwestern has their hands full with S Illinois.
FG kicking contest between Purdue and Syracuse.
-
38-0 right before the half M should pull JJ
-
Wow, I was wrong about Nebraska. They are getting drilled. These kids are too young to remember the rivalry.
-

Always be wary of judging how it'll go from the opening drive. Those are the scripted plays they run over and over during the week. Once they go off-script, they reveal themselves.
-
Scolding hot take here: Michigan would be a legit national title contender this year if David Ojabo & Dax Hill returned for 1 more year and Xavier Worthy was allowed to enroll early and never transferred to Texas.
Dax Hill would’ve just made their secondary that much better. They have nice depth guys at pass rush but no true stud- which is concerning- Ojabo would’ve given them that elite edge rusher.
Xavier Worthy with their other weapons on offense and JJ pulling the trigger- holy chit.
Seems like little things- but those are 3 ELITE guys- which added to this years team would just have made this team FILTHY.
-
Wow, I was wrong about Nebraska. They are getting drilled. These kids are too young to remember the rivalry.
Of course lol. That rivalry been dead since before some of these kids can even remember.
Hate to say I told you so- but I called Nebraska getting drilled.
-
Purdue has a defensive lineman named Nic Caraway? As is the Nick Carraway who spent a riotous summer on Long Island?
Never mind, but going into halftime @ Syracuse with the 9-3 lead, the coaching adjustments are really playing out between these two underrated teams. For as strong as Purdue's front seven is, Syracuse's is improved and playing well enough for coach Brohm to lean toward looking for offense through the air where the Boilermakers size is a big advantage. O'Connor is a big guy who early on found success finding big targets Durham and Johnson downfield, until Syracuse's secondary tightened up. Good home crowd in the dome.

Substitute Wisconsin for Michigan and JJ Watt for those other two and UW is your 2011 MNC. I'll always believe that.

On the bright side, they won't have to strongly consider the interim guy after this drubbing. He's out of the running.

Got my wires crossed on this. Didn't realize PSU was playing at 3:30.
Getting a lot of wires crossed today. Probably too much Deep Eddy last night.
-

Man, I think the Arky coach would be great in Lincoln. Sam Pittman.
Problem is, is UNL a step up from Arky?
Serious question.
-
Nebraska made Gus Johnson ill.
-

Ehh.....they'd beat Alabama, with the best pass D ever and shut out LSU? Or LSU, which was favored to beat Alabama?
Mmmmkay.
-
Take a peek at how many players on that UW OL played on Sunday. I'll hang up and listen for my answer.
-
Just beautiful Purdue 😖
-

LOL
Considering the teams I mentioned that they'd have to beat, I'm going to let you think about your post again.
Bringing up NFL talent on this one is a point against you, friend.
-
I'm just going to share this here, early in the season: Georgia TE Brock Bowers should probably win the Heisman. He won't. But he probably should.
-
LOL

They'd have to beat LSU. And they would have. But, JJ left, and that's that.
-
Just read that UW is going with full red uniforms today.
WTF??
-
They'd have to beat LSU. And they would have. But, JJ left, and that's that.
Oh, okay. My mistake.
:16:
A 3-loss team would be unbeatable because a 7-sack guy came back and they'd beat what was called an all-time great team before its loss to Bama.
Because you said so.
Got it.
-
Badge, thanks for ensuring I didn’t go with Northwestern 😳
-
Wow, Purdue.
I'll never understand the QB getting sacked and just tossing the ball randomly, yet inevitably into a defensive lineman's hands.....

Entertaining game at the garage dome in Syracuse.
After Purdue takes a 15-10 lead with an earlier fourth quarter TD drive (failed 2-pt), Syracuse dinks and dunks it to about midfield until Purdue forces a 4th down. On 4th and short Syracuse scores on a short reception and long run down the wide open sideline by WR Oronde Gadsen II (yes, son of the former Dolphins WR) for an 18-5 lead after Syracuse convert the 2-pt.
With the ball back deep on their side of the field, O'Connell, blown back by a blitz, flings an errant pass right into the hands of a Syracuse DL who trots untouched into the end zone.
Purdue with the ball, 7:00 left at their 45, down 25-15.
-
I don't like watching Syracuse home games bc of the low camera angle.
And damn, this was a 10-9 game like 4 seconds ago...
-
Down goes Northwestern. Some interesting candidates for worst in the conference.
-
If South Alabama holds their lead VS UCLA, but it's only witnessed by 160 spectators, does the upset count?
https://twitter.com/DawgLifeIzzoYB/status/1571213672055443457
-
The next time someone asks what I do for a living, I'm going to say "UCLA football ticket scalper."
-
Nice recovery by O’Connell!!
-
These Syracuse OL are just holding at will, because it's not being called.

Man, hard to watch the end of this game and not see officials with a clear outcome in mind.

What a finish in Syracuse!
So many games already gearing up in the next timeslot:

Man, hard to watch the end of this game and not see officials with a clear outcome in mind.
Yeah- that was strange.
At least the Hoosiers pulled it out.
-
Rutgers survives to keep everyone in the eliminator alive this week.
-
Bobby Pesavento ain't walking through that door in Boulder.
-
UCLA survives South Alabama 32-31 with a last second FG in front of dozens of home fans. I once again, dating back to UCLA's Karl Dorrell tenure, overrated the Bruins.
Speaking of Karl Dorrell, whoever (847b) said in the Minnesota-Colorado thread that the Buffaloes might not even score is on their way to being right; coming out of halftime the Gophers are up 35-0.
Meanwhile, the Cal-Notre Dame game in South Bend feels more like watching one of those pre-Christmas bowls with the Irish wearing alternate jerseys and the gameplay running at the lower gear of teams who aren't quite sure they'd rather be in their dorms. But the crowd, wow - an 0-2 Notre Dame is hosting a middling Pac 12 program and the stadium is completely packed (take notes UCLA!).
Notre Dame up 24-17 w/ 2:44 left in the game, playing with a lot of spirit but the Irish offense is so limited.
-
Penn State looks strong. I wish another Big Ten team played at least one tough non-conference game.
-
3:30 window has been GOOD.
Tulane getting super aggressive to secure the upset was great.
Cal didn't beat ND, but did enough to fill the Irish fans with all sorts of dread.
Wisconsin is murdering this terrible NMSU team. Nice to see the backups get some burn.
-
Penn State looks strong. I wish another Big Ten team played at least one tough non-conference game.
Me too. Going on the road to face an SEC team is awesome. MSU on the road tonight against a PAC team is good too, especially if they can win. When Minnesota scheduled Colorado- it was probably a decent matchup. Same with OSU/ND.
Honestly I try to watch Michigan for a few minutes today as well as Wisconsin, but both were unlikable as it looked like they were playing high school teams.
well let’s be realistic- Loading up with cupcakes like Michigan did is actually a very smart play. It impresses the voters and the fans in the media, helps you in the rankings, helps insulate your stat sheet, gives you tons of experience for your less experience players, and keeps your best players from getting injured while giving them tuneups. There really is no downside.
-
Michigan backup QB McNamara out a “few weeks” with lower body injury.
-
GT clearly better off ditching option football.
-
Okay, Exhibit A on how to take a statistic and THINK you're using it, but it falling apart.
Miss State going for it on 4th and 1 repeatedly in the first half, including at their own 20.
The statistics say you should almost always go for it. Great. MSU seems to be employing this idea......and running the same play every time!
.
Here's a hint: the math only works out IF YOU DON'T RUN THE SAME PLAY EVERY TIME
-
Michigan backup QB McNamara out a “few weeks” with lower body injury.
I didn’t realize how poor his pocket presence was until watching someone else against the same defense that had decent pocket presence. Sucks to see him get hurt, but also think he’s been lucky he stayed healthy this long.
-
Penn State looks good. Very good. I think it could be argued they look like the #1 team in the conference.
-
Also, Auburn is crap salad.
And yes, I said this before the game, on the board.
-
Gophers finally get a game next week. There has been no resistance through three weeks.
Also....maybe wore the best helmets of all time. Oversized 'M' on chrome gold? Hell yes. Fu**ing rules.

Kansas up 42-21 on Houston. Jayhawks on the verge of winning back to back road games for the first time since 2007.
-
I forgot how good healthy Mike Penix was. I miss him.
-
Toledo is awful. How did PSU and the Wolverines ever lose to these guys?
-
Buckeyes are loaded at receiver. Their talent level is crazy. Simply just reloaded and this year may be more talented than last year.
-
Washington's Michael Penix stuffed on a 4th-and-goal QB sneak up the middle on Michigan State's 2. The play call is a complete misreading of Michigan State's defense and how, after playing unprepared for most of the 1st quarter, they were settling in and starting to frustrate the Huskies at the LOS.
As I type that Michigan State's RB stumbles on his own OL out of the backfield for a Safety. 9-0 Washington leads but Michigan State appears to be playing with regained focus, especially on defense.
edit: 22-0 Washington 2nd Q, an embarrassing showing for the Spartans

I’m thinking I’m going to lose the MSU rushing yards question.. -12 yards rushing? 😳
I forgot that negative yards was an option
-
I have been awful at Resident Genius so far. But I went on the lower side this week.
-
After being down 17-0 at one point Arkansas has drawn even with Missouri St in the third. That’s Missouri St, not Missouri.
-
Missouri St with a response to go back up on Arkansas 24-17.
-
27-17 Missouri St leading Arkansas. Early 4th.
-
Damn Huskies spanking the Spartans 36-14 with 10 minutes left in the 3rd
-
Arkansas now up 31-27 after a 73 yard TD pass and then an 82 yard punt return.
-
Just turned on MSU-Washington at the hotel. What the hell is going on with them?
-
Bobby’s boys made it interesting but Arkansas is going to hold them off.
-
Toledo wouldn't play OSU for 12 years after the 49-0 beatdown they suffered at the hands of the 98 team. OSU had to agree to a "road game" in Cleveland in order to get them back into the fold.
After today, they are never going to want to play us again.
-
Whewwwww. Close win. Go Gators!

That USF kicker made one helluva an effort on that kick given the brutal job by holder

Iowa really making things fun for their fans with bad offense and multiple weather delays. Next week we'll be treated to offensive purgatory with Iowa-Rutgers.

K-State lost to Tulane.

Oh, and I have a rule for all announcers...........STOP TELLING US WHO IS A TRANSFER, THEY'RE PRACTICALLY ALL TRANSFERS. I no longer care where a guy played last year. Just skip that part, ffs. If only for efficiency-sake......stop saying 'transfer' and that's like 7 of the 31 words in your next spoken paragraph.

Interesting game up until the 4th quarter.

The game is at Jerry World in Arlington. If the pigs are competent they have a chance against A&M.

Are you doing a bit? It's got to be a bit.
The game is at Jerry World in Arlington. If the pigs are competent they have a chance against A&M.
I'd say Arkansas has more than "a chance." They and A&M are very evenly matched. Both are going to be 8-4ish teams. Either could win or lose.

Your reaction is the only way you know how to react you cant help it
I know where the game is being played
Ark is going to go down big time
And App State has a pretty good team apparently

Didn't you also tell us all that we shouldn't bet on OU beating Nebraska? :)
I'm not sure what you've seen so far this season to make you believe the ags are considerably better than the pigs. I consider them to be roughly equal. Either team could win, but a blowout in either direction would surprise me.

hush or I'll send your post to your wife

I think Arky is coached better.
-
Arky reminds me a lot of those Wisconsin teams back in the day, just tough on the LOS, and well coached. A&M may win, but I favor Arky fairly close, like 31-23.

Ha! She's watched her team all season long, she knows what they look like this year. Ain't nothin' I could criticize that she wouldn't agree with 100%, and with 10x more emotion.
