After officials overturned an apparent interception on the goal line by Red Raiders defensive back Dadrion Taylor-Demerson with 7:25 left in the fourth quarter, the Texas Tech announcers were apoplectic.

"I'll say it right now, the Big 12 does not want Iowa State to lose this game," Harris said.

"Yeah, Bob Bowlsby, you need to answer to this," Jensen added. "This is ridiculous. The inconsistency of this referee crew in favor of Iowa State. Unbelievable."

Texas Tech students began throwing trash on the field after the interception was overturned. The officials gave an unsportsmanlike conduct call to the Red Raiders, and the students were ordered to vacate two sections and leave the stadium.

Jensen declared he had never seen anything like this officiating performance.

"The Big 12 should be embarrassed," he said. "The Big 12 should be embarrassed with this group. We've only pointed out two guys. I'm gonna read 'em all to you."

Jensen then proceeded to name on air every member of the crew.
"Courage; Generosity; Fairness; Honor; In these are the true awards of manly sport."

Cool.

The exact same information can be found on the B12 website, on the Texas Tech website, and on the ISU website, in the box score sections.

Also, at the beginning of every single Longhorn radio broadcast I've ever listened to, in all of my nearly-50 years, the broadcast crew describes the weather, the field conditions, the color of uniforms each team is wearing, and then names every referee that will be an official for that day's game.

Maybe other schools' broadcasters don't do that?

Sure seems like much ado about nothing.

The d-bags who threaten to kill whomever does something they don't like--along with family members--may or may not pay attention to any of that.  But they sure pay attention after the Tech broadcast crew has called the officials crooked cheaters.
We've got this sort of crap going on all over the country, often motivated by political theater from both ends of the spectrum.  It would be a good thing if CFB broadcast crews could restrain themselves.
But asking for reasonable restraint from anyone or anything from Texas Tech is like wishing for world peace and plenty of maps for the poor Iraqians.

I've never noticed Tech fans to be any different than OU fans or Texas fans in any of this.

You do know what the word "fan" is short for, right?

As for your first paragraph?  Eh.  I think you're being melodramatic.

I know what "fan" stands for.  Doesn't mean that everyone who is a fan is a fanatic.  It's just where the term originated.

Do Texas fans throw batteries at the opposing team?  OU fans don't, as far as I'm aware.

Decaying batteries are bad for the environment.  Blue Austinites wouldn't dare ponder the notion.

No, they're the Texas Tech radio broadcast crew.  They're paid by Texas Tech.

But, coaches aren't paid by the B12, and still fall under B12 rules with respect to these things.

Regardless, B12 league management sucks.  Film at 11.

the question still remains if they are paid by a Big 12 member school then by extension are they subject to the same restriction as coaches

Im not saying they did anything wrong but what they did may have violated Big 12 rules

I'd say the announcers crossed the line.  Try to be professional, regardless of your personal feelings or how much your listeners might eat it up.

they're paid by the TT athletic dept just like the Tech coaching staff.  You call out the commish by name, you might feel his wrath.

Eh. It's whiny and petulant.  But so is Bowlsby.

oh, I'm not saying they are wrong.  I've had suspicions in the past regarding the Big 12 conference office and officiating crews....

they are probably justified in their comments and Bowlsby has this and more coming

I'm just saying, they should expect the reaction they received
