The last Super Bowl I watched was the one where the Cowboys beat the Steelers in the mid-'90s.

The last one before that might have been one of the Bills' losses.

We are six hours ahead, so if it starts at 8 PM EST, it would be 2 AM here.  You would need to fete me with free Champagne and caviar to keep me up that late, and I don't like caviar, but the, wife does.

Never have eaten caviar.  Never smoked marijuana nether.

Hey I just got a great idea.  Why not do both at the same time and go out in style.

Caviar, to me, is hyper salty stuff with a fishy taste, and very pricey if it is real.  I eat a lot of odd things, but caviar I can pass and let the wife enjoy hers.  I also am lukewarm on Champagne.  Ha.  It to me is poor wine to which they added fizz to make it somewhat quaffable, but not transcendent, even the good stuff.

I like good Champagne (and other sparkling wines not named Champagne).

I'm indifferent on caviar, it's alright but I don't love overly salty flavors and it's definitely that.

The step grand kids are claiming to watch the Super Bowl.  Apparently they think I am interested also.  Not.

I don't think they know who is playing or care who wins.  It is a social thing apparently.

Kirkland has a prosecco for $7 that the wife likes a lot.  It is not terrible.

Overcast again but warmer.  Rain later.  They fixed duck filets last night and mine was burned, past well done.  They may think Americans like it that way?  I had to slice it thinly with trouble to manage to chew it at all.  Leather.

Duck might be my favorite protein but it's easy to mess up.  Not sure I've ever eaten it where the French had messed it up, though.  That's some tough luck ol' sport.

Yeah, duck can be superb.  Good pairing with a Burgundy.

Plat du Jour.

Menu.

Crate du vin.

Carte.

We did a nice walk today, still over cast but warmer.  A lot of folks out and about.  Biking very popular here, tiny country lanes.

There is a 25 acre pasture near the middle of town with cows grazing.  Another place had three small ponies.  Very rustic.

LSU will be interesting next year for sure.

I don't like olives either.  Too salty.

Olive oil is good though, and olives in a tapenade for use on a muffelatta sammich and such, is A-OK too.

Olives have their place in the bottom of a martini glass

I don't like 'em in martinis.  Of course, I don't much like vermouth either.  My martinis are effectively very, very cold gin.  And I'm okay with that.

I don't take vermouth in my martini, but I enjoy an olive and a hint of olive juice

My wife likes Manhattans, which gives me something to do with the vermouth. It also has cherries in it.
