The precipitating incident was a picture of him fishing at IIRC Lake Texoma, wearing an OAN t-shirt, but apparently there have been some things bubbling for a long time.

OAN exists to support Donald Trump.  A lot of people, not all of them on the left, believe that Donald Trump doesn't think much of black people.  Or that when he does, he thinks of them as "them," not as fellow American citizens.
Abraham Lincoln once said that the power of public opinion cannot be dismissed, even if its opinion is ill-founded.  He was talking about people who may not have actively supported slavery but were susceptible to the argument that freeing the slaves would mean racial equality, black men marrying white girls, etc.  His 1858 debates with Stephen A. Douglas show how he had to deal with this charge in Illinois, which was perhaps tied with Indiana as the most racist "free" state.  Both states had laws prohibiting free black people from living there.

It wasn't much of a make-out session.

Did you see the video clip on Twitter?  Gundy didn't admit that he had done anything wrong, and Hubbard stood there with his arms folded across his chest the whole time.  He stated that he had chosen the wrong forum (Twitter) to voice his concern, that he should have gone directly to Gundy.
I wonder what Gundy would have said had Hubbard done that.  He's pretty much a butthead who never admits to making any mistakes.
