I feel like, last season, the talking heads did a half-arsed analysis with the Sooners, and just sort of figured that there's no way they'd have 2 down years in a row. The truth is, Riley gutted that team good when he left, and they haven't rebuilt it yet.
What I'm seeing is that the OL had only a few serviceable parts when BV took over. They haven't replaced those guys with anyone better.
I don't see any real reason to believe that Bedenbaugh can just miracle up an OL. He's done OK with OK talent, but hasn't ever actually turned crummy into good.
If he does that, Mateer will hurt a lot of teams. If it's the same product as last 2 seasons, it doesn't matter (mateer?) who the QB is.
I think you're pretty much on target,  Mr Tulip.

But OU had a 10-3 season in between 6-7 in 2022 and 6-7 in 2024.

Bedenbaugh is under some pressure to produce a much better OL than what we had last year. There were two obvious problems. Recruiting and injuries. He hasn't recruited enough OL, making us rely on the portal, making unit chemistry hard to develop. There are comments from people who know a lot more than I do saying that OU's preseason practices were too physical, particularly by the defense during scrimmages. We started the season with banged-up OL and WR units and we never got them healthy. If that commentary is accurate, that's all on Venables.

Jesus. A couple of OU related posts popped up on my twitter feed, I read a few and posted some here. Now my feed is littered with Sooner football content.

I’ve often thought that it would be good if you could adjust your orbit on feeds. Like how somebody friends you and you accept, and then your feed is cluttered with everything they post. Every meal, every outing, for gods sake I don’t need this much info about anything. You should be able to set them up in orbits. For people you’re really close to, put them in your Mercury orbit. You see 100% of what they post. This would be your very close friends and family, and other things that interest you deeply.

Next you’d have the inner planets. Venus, Earth, Mars. Someone you see everyday but aren’t necessarily tight with, maybe you put them at Mars. Just the highlights, the posts that get the most likes and attention. What you ate, wouldn’t make your feed. Your house burned down or your daughter graduated college would make your feed. Next you’d have the outer planets. I’d honestly say Compress it down to Jupiter/ Saturn, and then Neptune/Uranus, and Pluto. Yes, I’m aware Pluto got demoted.

The less you care for somebody, you would only see the highest viewed posts.

I know this isn’t how SM works, because they want you to keep scrolling, but I think it’d be great.
