You get two states added to your cable.

I also "think" ND is a dying brand, and they would "die" faster if they were in a normal conference.  They used to be the program Catholics around the country adored, I think that day is ebbing.  Sure, they have their own TV contract, and it probably is major, but over time?  When I moved the Cincy, the hope of every footballer going to one of the Catholic schools there was an offer from ND, and they took it usually, but later that simply disappeared, top players wanted whatever program would help them go to the NFL, and it became Ohio State more than ND (opinion here).

I also think ND could start having 9-4 and 8-5 kind of seasons in a conference, if that, and allegiances would drift away to a local school.

Cable subscriber model is going to be dead soon enough.  Cable providers are already rejecting being strongarmed into taking the B1G.  They've lost carriers in New York and Nebraska, and it's just the beginning.

Whatever leads to ND being irrelevant. I'm for that.

regardless of whatever way they share the revenue, the ACC's future will be uncertain

Personally, I really enjoy hating them and it's more fun when they're relevant.

I'd rather you and many many others were hating the Husker prick squad again, because of relevance

Easy for your team to say when you’re on top of the mountain. We have to play them on the road, at night, with a brand new quarterback.

ND can just keep doing what it's doing.  It has no reason to change until it's forced to.
.
On that note, I was driving home today and had an idea:  Miami could go independent.
The hardest part of being an independent is scheduling - just ask BYU.  People want to play ND, so they don't have issues with it.  And neither would Miami.  Every tier of program would love a home-and-home with Miami in this 12-team playoff climate.  Hell, many programs may want something bigger, like a 10-year deal with the Canes.  That opportunity to play in the most fertile recruiting spot in the country is a very unique thing.
And while they won't get a deal that pays what NBC is giving ND, Miami could get something like their ACC share, I believe.
.
I think it's actually feasible (outside of the G-o-R issue).  I'm just focusing on the viability of the idea in practice.
