His stuff is "different", and he was viewed as odd in his day.  Hit by a tram car, I think, did him in.  Didn't leave drawings.

Yeah, might even drive into Canada.

I enjoy driving trips that are not pressed for time to get somewhere.

Does anyone here still use a camera?  I put some money into 35 mm decades ago, and then more money into a DSLR Nikon which I no longer carry , and rarely use.  I have been looking at some small mirrorless camera I can tote with ease, but my phone still does remarkably well in most instants.

Our kids all of a sudden dug out and started using our old digital cameras from 2010 or so, including the camcorder.  They had them on their Christmas lists a year ago but then we showed them our drawer of old technology and they ate it up.

My i s c & a aggie wife also has a Nikon DSLR that she absolutely had to have maybe 10-15 years ago.  It's been used maybe 8 times total.

I once fancied myself as a kind of photographer.  I'd develop and print my own black and white.  I had a Minolta STR101 which was a decent 35 mm with several lenses.

My neighbor who is a real photographer dropped $35K into new Sony mirrorless and got me thinking, I really take snapshots now.  A phone is adequate usually.

I have a heavy lens for my Nikon today that is difficult to use at full tele because of image bounce.  I have filters and tripods and a monopod and the whole kit.  It must weight 25 pounds.

The eldest and I dug out my SLR camera the other day. They want to learn to use it. I'm happy I didn't sell it. I haven't used it in 20 years, at least, but it will be fun to try shooting some film again.

Yeah it goes back to a discussion we've had about GenZ having this desire for physical media and more analog experiences.  I'm sure some of it is nostalgia but I also think they're grasping for things that are more tangible and permanent.

I understand folks wanting to play vinyl for music, though I gave it up long ago.  I don't have any desire now to shoot with physical film, or have a darkroom (even though printing photos is pretty fun for a while).  My friend who  has insance stereo stuff has a tube amp and vinyl and some fancy brand of speaker I don't recall, he told me he spent $2000 on speaker cables.  I get that it's trying to elicit every last ooph of quality from a system (but really doubt it matters).

I bought a decent midrange Yamaha receiver and some Monitor Audio speakers (silver) using the notion that perfect is the enemy of good enough.  The car supposedly has some kind of upgraded stereo but we almost never turn on the radio.

I also tend to drink $10 wine ...

I had big Yamaha power amp, tuner, EQ, 5 CD changer and turntable, Infinity and Jamo speakers, Infinity sub, and monster cables.

Sounded great.

Now I have a Samsung soundbar and subwoofer.

Sounds great.
