perhaps one night stays within 2 miles of the airport should count as 1/4?

We changed planes in Istanbul last year.  It's a large airport with very weird intrusive security procedures.

Haneda was/is a large airport, with a long way to walk after you deplane.  Seoul has a very nice modern airport.

It's a big connection airport for a number of airlines.
Istanbul doesn't make any sense as an eastbound scissor hub unless the western European airplanes don't have the legs to make it to East Asia without refueling. And if they didn't, they're going to Anchorage for fuel, not Istanbul.

I agree it doesn't make sense, but I've planned a lot of travel and it popped up as a connection to a lot of Eastern European countries and even as far West as Rome.

Most of these involve Singapore/Australia/NZ.

I think Istanbul has a convenient hub location near the ME.  There are a lot of flights from Europe to India that use Istanbul, for example.

More Of The Best Small Towns Across America (heraldweekly.com)

I counted about ten of these I've visited.  If "charming" or best includes Gatlinburg and Helen, GA, well, OK I guess.  The other choices seemed OK to me.

This has become a tourist magnet of sorts, and it has taken on a lot of "touristy" stuff, not all of which is good IMHO.

Savannah, GA.  We spent three days there a few years back to "see" the city.  I think it's interesting enough to visit for 3 days.  But, aspects of it today have lost a bit of old style charm through they tried to retain it, somewhat artificially.  It's kind of neat to sit outside on River Walk and watch a massive container ship glide by.  I think it's the 4th largest port in the US now, and the ships transit the river inland about 25 miles or so.  If one lost power ....

Large city with a small town feel, depending where you are. I enjoy hanging out on River St, and my wife enjoys wandering around town. We have friends who just moved there from here in Northern Ohio. Will probably be there from time to time now.

I don't recommend visiting in the summer months as I thought I was going to die of heat stroke last year.

I think it's worth a visit, but not in summer ...

Stay near the waterfront though.
