Got about 8-10 inches in my yard right now  over the course of a few days.

Back from baseball, in decent shape.  We spent a few days in Orlando doing nothing.  Seven hour drive back, not too bad.  New vehicle is more comfortable.  Was getting 32-33 mpg highway and more like 36 around town, which seems odd but is typical of mild hybrids.  I cranked up the stereo a bit at times on XM and it sounded decent, the car is really quiet at speed.  Orlando is a mess, but we stay in Bueana Vista, which also is a mess, and I ran a bit.  I can't spel Bueano.

The camp was really neat, for me anyway.  I had a few highlights, not as many as I'd like, but I'm old.  A few players in their 30s are pretty decent.

My limit driving is 8 hours, I could do more of course, but beyond that we fly.

Headed up to Paso Robles first thing tomorrow morning for the weekend. In-laws are in town. We used to do a trip there in March each year for the wine club that we're both members to who hosted a big party every year, but we decided the weekend was too hectic and the party had kinda become less fun (for us; it's still a good time) over the years.

So looking forward to some good wine, some good dinners, and some good times.

Paso is kind of unappreciated, I think.

A thing that stood out for me on our trip was how many trucks are on the road and how many truck places there are, warehouses, exchange centers, etc.  I presume a truck may unload at these places for some reason, I saw two new ones that were enormous, probably 40 bays.  I actually am not sure what they do.

When I was a young driver there were very few semis on the road, and of course Interstates in the South were incomplete.  It seems like an inefficient means of transporting goods, though obviously it works just in time etc.

Every time we drive to my in-laws in Michigan, eastbound 94 going out of the Twin Cities is clogged with semi trucks. So is 80/90/94 in northern Indiana by the time we get there in the afternoon.

Compared with other methods of overland shipping, trucking is extremely inefficient and runs with a substantial, albeit indirect, subsidy.

Trucking must have some major advantage in flexibility and ease of scheduling and delivery, or something.  I appreciate that rail is limited in terms of locations of course.

There are a LOT of'em.  I'd like to understand how those huge buildings with loading docks one after the other function.

80-94 may be worst segment of Interstate in US.

We drove by (and into a couple just to look) various "retirement communities" in FL.  They aren't for us, cookie cutter homes that aren't that cheap on tiny lots.  I'd as soon be in a condo building with some shared amenties.  It's obviously a huge industry there, and I know the interiors can be pretty nice.  There is a LOT of space still available, though highways will be at a premium to manage traffic.  I can see for golfers there is allure, and they often have a central club house for playing bridge etc.

I was a bit surprised how expensive they are.

The Cheapest Michelin Star Meals Around the World Revealed

The research concluded that eight out of the 10 most affordable Michelin-star restaurants in the world are located in Asia. Number one on the list goes to Singapore’s beloved Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle whose most expensive item will set you back $2.20, while number two goes to Hong Kong’s Tim Ho Wan.

In Europe, the cheapest restaurant goes to L’Antic Moli, a former flour mill located in El Castell, Spain. Their set lunch menu will cost you $16.60. In the US, guests can feast in Al’s Place for $18.While 49 out of the 50 cheapest restaurants only have one Michelin Star to their names, Tuju, a two-star restaurant based in Sao Paulo, has made the cut at number 14.

The Brazilian restaurant serves a seasonal menu of native and specially handpicked products from the region. The set lunch menu goes for $22.40 a head.To give you a clearer picture, the most expensive restaurant, Sublimotion, which is run by 2-Michelin Star Chef Paco Roncero, charges $1,761 for a set menu -- two dollars more expensive than if you eat in all the 50 restaurants combined!

I've been to what now is a One Star here, Bacchanalia, it's $110 pre fixe, and it's quite good really.

We supposedly have lunch reservations in Marseille at a 3 star which a local tells me is "the best restaurant in France" ...

Tres cher.

We fly out Monday, our travel schedule is extreme, for us.  March is Japan and South Korea.
