Doing a lot of Punta Gorda searches will do that.

In general I tend to prefer a "restaurant" over a "restaurant concept."

If the concept is that I go to a good restaurant, then I support it.

Looks like 2024 is shaping up... Planning a weekend getaway to Paso Robles, a trip to Indianapolis for a wedding, a week- in Kauai, a week+ in Ireland, and likely a trip to Nashville for the board meeting.

Check this place out if you haven't already. We loved it because we could do what every we wanted from the place.

Walk to restaurants, groceries, beach, bars, etc. If we chose, and we did several times, we'd buy fresh fish at the beach, just caught, and cook it for dinner that night. Some other guests did the same, so it was pretty fun. I would not call it luxurious at all, but that's not what we wanted anyway.

Beach Hotel | Hanalei, HI - Hanalei Inn

I have a "restaurant concept" in my head, it's a real BBQ place with Utee in Aix-en-Provence.

Thanks Badge.

The hotel says only queen beds... Not sure I can deal with that lol. But it sounds really cool.

Any chance you'd want to connect a brewery operation to that place?

I could write you a book on Kauai and I have tons of feedback since I'm going to insert myself here as my wife and I have been twice and it's my favorite place in the US.

HOTEL

I'm a fan of the southside, but there's also a lot of people that would argue to stay on the north. Some of it depends on the time of year and whether or not it's rainy season. If you are anywhere south, Grand Hyatt is amazing. Worst case eat at the restaurant Tidepools on sight. It's amazing.

I'd take Liko Cruises to see the Na Pali coast. So worth it.

Island Helicopters is also unreal are the only helicopter service that can land at the Jurassic Park falls and the rest of the 80 mins is breathtaking as well.

Waimea Canyon is a must.. 100% must.  Not sure the budget or plan or what you like best but i highly suggest car rental.. First time out I made the mistake of renting a cadillac, which was a brain fart as a jeep or solid SUV is the way to go.

This is truly a place that's tough to fit everything in one trip.. Wailua falls, Hanalei beach, polihale park which is a massive crazy dirt road you have to drive down but leads to an almost empty beach and constant rainbows.

personally, I would in detail plan out days.. I'm typically a relax on a beach type of guy, but Kauai is the one place that planning out days leads to so many amazing experiences.

We are headed to the Big Island in December for a week.  My wife loves it there.  I've taken her to Oahu and Maui but not yet Kauai, she's for some reason not really interested.  I'll force it at some point.  Then we visit family last week in December.  Then baseball.  Then a cruise to Japan/SK in March.  Mixed in is the symphony tour in paris/london in Feb.  I'm gonna be crazy.

Thanks. Now that we've booked the flights as of yesterday, we need to start mapping this stuff out.

Arriving on a Monday evening with just about enough time to get to the hotel, check in, have dinner/drinks, and then flying back out on a Saturday night redeye so we'll actually get almost all of Saturday for activities. So it'll basically be 5 full days. It'll be May--not sure what season that is just yet.

Definitely going to have a rental car. Don't really think it's feasible to see the amount of the island we'd want to see without one. I'll have to see what the rental options are--I can use my corporate code for a generic midsize sedan usually pretty cheap, but I don't know how much more expensive it gets if I want to go Jeep/SUV.

And I'm the exact opposite of a "relax on the beach" guy, so I'm going to try to pack as much in as I can.

We did a Blue Hawaii helo tour a while back, it's pretty amazing really.  $$$.  Worth it.  A good thing for us is that it's easy to get out of bed early.

Yeah, we did a seaplane tour over Vancouver which was really really cool. I think a helicopter tour over Kauai would be awesome.
