Yes it is try following it, have you been eating sponge cake and sipping schnopps in the wee hours? Pretty simple logic starters out at RBs,WRs and TE on a passing team so tell the board how this would have no effect or you could blame them - I'll hang up and listen
A - you play with who ya got, injuries happen
B - how in the holy hell did Harrison get "cheap-shotted"????  The ball was in play and the defender jacked him up with his shoulder
.
One of us is emotionally invested and the other is being objective.  I'll you sort out who's who.

Ohio State completely blew that last round of downs there, and set their kicker up for failure. Why didn’t the Buckeyes use their remaining TOs to think through a more confident selection of playcalls? Completely winged the last :35 seconds.

The below writeup elaborates on my reaction after OSU's coaching staff, otherwise calling a fantastic game Vs Georgia, bizarrely folded in the last minute:

"After calling a brilliant, aggressive game for better than 59 minutes, Day made a shocking decision to play for a long field goal attempt to earn a spot in the national title game."

"Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud had just done the unthinkable, breaking loose for a 27-yard gain that brought the Buckeyes to the Georgia 31-yard line. The Buckeyes had 24 seconds and 2 timeouts to finish the job."

"On first down, he chose to hand the ball to third-string running back Dallan Hayden. The message was clear: Ohio State was playing for 3 points. And anyone who attempts to tell you otherwise is delusional or lying...the play was a predictable failure. Hayden lost a yard. After a pair of incompletions, including a scrambling near-disaster that Stroud simply threw out of bounds to avoid taking a 15-yard sack, the Buckeyes settled for a 50-yard field goal attempt."

"Stroud was cooking. Georgia was on its heels. And on first down with the game in the balance, Day took the ball out of the hands of his back-to-back Heisman finalist...There was no time to spare when Day got cute. Or ultra-conservative. Or dumb. Maybe gutless? It’s hard to properly quantify — even though Day and Stroud said afterward that they liked the call and wouldn’t change it. And the fact he did get cute/conservative/dumb/gutless is incomprehensible given how he had called this entire game."

"It’s among the most baffling decisions in college football history...It’s a shame when the final 24 seconds can override the 59:36 before it. But that’s the College Football Playoff. Every second counts. Ohio State needed a full 60 minutes of good decisions from its head coach."

Again my response was to Drew who said "I dont think osu has a thing to be ashamed about." I agreed and explained why, have the 3rd grade explain it to you.And when all else failed like you just did try the rule book
Targeting:
1)Launch — a player leaving his feet to attack an opponent by an upward and forward thrust of the body to make forcible contact in the head or neck area
2)Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area
Harrison clearly qualified as a defenseless player under the article 4 rule for targeting.
Watch the replay the so called player jumped up and pumped his fist

I'd pick Stroud #1.
I'd still go Bryce Young. But Stroud did win me over a little bit more last night. I said BY was the only guy I'd pick 1st rd. I'd pick Stroud 1st rd as well. Those are the only two though. Not buying that Will Levis bullsh&t hype- that dude is ASS.

Young is small but he's magical with that football in his hands and he's got an NFL arm. Stroud has the adequate size and height and he's the best pure thrower of the football in this upcoming draft. Those are the only two I'm touching with a 1st rd pick. Rest of these QBs in this upcoming draft can fk off when it comes to the 1st rd.

I don't understand the Levis love either.  The USC guy might go early.  I figure somebody will take a flyer on Stetson Bennett IV late.

I guess you need to have a 3rd grader explain it to the referees?  It's not targeting if they don't call it.

Strongly disagree.

That play was called based on the defense Georgia was in.  Sure- 4th string RB- pretty much without their too 3 all season.

That play was designed to gain 4-6 yards- but as Day said, if Georgia would have been in man coverage he would have gone for the end zone. Solid thinking.  Especially with a kicker who has been money from 50 in all season. Indoor stadium. Crowd noise outrageous making communication difficult.

And remember, no Cade Stover- their best TE. No Gee Scott, their second best pass catching TE.  No Marvin Harrison.  Georgia- in a compacted area( almost red zone) playing zone in the back, hard press one on one on the split out wide outs, and blitzing the house.

Recipe for a turnover. The run- if blocked well ( it wasnt)has a good chance of breaking big.

The next 2 plays- before the FG attempt- tell you all you need to know, as he had Stoud in aggressive pass calls.  First one thrown into tight coverage, tipped and could have been intercepted.  Stroud had no time- all out Blitz. Next play- same defense.  Stroud running for life immediately and no choice but to throw it away so as to preserve FG attempt.

Day had that team ready. He called an excellent offensive game.  Losing Harrison for the entire Q4 hurt a lot. I give Georgia credit.

Kirby calling that timeout while ( and it was called during the play) OSU ran the fake punt successfully was brilliant.  If Ohio State gets that first down this game was effectively over.

It was Jorge is very next offensive play, since all Ohio State now had to punt, or the defensive back fell down and they gave up a 70 yard touchdown.
Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.

They must have made a mistake then.

It's always been weird to me when NYD is on a Sunday and bowl games get pushed to Monday January 2nd.  It's even weirder now that the CFP semifinals are already done, and the rest of the bowls just seem like an afterthought today, rather than leading up to the big games-- Cotton Bowl in early afternoon, Rose Bowl in the late afternoon, Orange Bowl at night-- like it used to.

I remember back in the day, I hardly even thought about it.

Like the first bowl when I was in college and the one UW Rose Bowl I went to were both very much on the second, and I was like "I guess so."

Of course, I was in college or on vacation for those, so it wasn't like I had a normal job getting in the way.

Well considering their 2 starting RBs Williams(2nd OTR)/Henderson were out, starting TE Stover went out, WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba out - supposed pre season fav. to win the Biletnikoff Award didn't Play then Marvin Harrison JR got cheap shotted can't say as I can Blame them.A late hit or personal foul should have been leveled there then it's 1st & goal instead of settling for 3

"Defensive back Javon Bullard, wearing No. 22 for Georgia, hit Harrison in the head with his helmet and shoulder as the play ended, and it looked like targeting. A flag was thrown on impact, but it was later ruled that targeting had not happened. But Harrison was done for the night with concussion symptoms."

“I was told that it was not targeting,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “And that he (Harrison) did not take a shot to the head, which is hard. I didn’t see it, so I don’t know. But to get a concussion and not get hit in the head – I’d have to see the replay.”

"Stroud clearly was not the same quarterback after Harrison left. And Ohio State was not the same team. Stroud finished 4-of-8 passing for 29 yards with a sack and no touchdowns from the point Harrison exited. Before that, Stroud was 19-of-26 passing for 319 yards and four touchdowns. The Buckeyes managed only two field goals without Harrison."
