Tony the Tiger Bowl Thread presented by Jimmy Kimmel

These lower their bowl games may actually be better.  Less NFL talent opting out, and nobody disappointed to be there.  Hell, if a kid blows up, and has eligibility left, he may use it to go in the portal to get a P5 offer

I made the comment on another thread, that in some ways the lower-tier bowls are more like college football as it once was and arguably should be-- a game to be watched and enjoyed for what happens on the field, between the white lines, between the 60:00 and 00:00 marks on the clock.

The sport has been perverted over the decades into this constant grinding worry about recruiting, or the portal, or perception on the internet, or a dozen other things that have nothing to do with what actually happens between two teams, after kickoff, on the gridiron.

It's meaningful, because it is meaningless.

In Vegas for the pats-raiders game on Sunday. Saw all kinds of oregon state gear on people. Figured there must be a bowl game. So Florida and Oregon state are playing in the Las Vegas bowl tomorrow.  Haven't hardly seen anyone in Florida gear.

Vegas would be a nice break from the humidity for the Floridians

and there's gambling

I enjoyed the bowl games yesterday and the Semi playoff game between the cardinals and the Bison

strange game

530 yards of offense and 4 turnovers for the Cards - Bison win

Waking up in Las Vegas this morning. Will cross Interstate at Mandalay Bay in another hour and ticket into Las Vegas Bowl. 30 yard line seats. Gators Vs Oregon State.

Three years ago when I stayed across the street this was my view of the stadium:

Awesome.
I thought about going to the game, but with our 4th-string QB playing and having 1 more week of work until winter break, I'll watch at home.
I'll visit my friend in Vegas over break, when I can stay longer.

Former OSU QB Jack Miller will start for Florida today.  He's stlll iffy after breaking his throwing-hand thumb at the beginning of the year.  If he can't go or gets hurt, we'll have a walk-on in there.

That might be why there's not a lot of Gators gear in Vegas.

If opt-outs and transfer portal wasn't a thing, I'd be there.  But honestly it just feels like a Spring jamboree game.
They might want to look at making non-playoff bowls not count in the final rankings, like back in the day.

Like what?  It's all about the extra practices.  Let the kids have fun on their trip.  When your QB is doing draft prep and your 3rd CB in transferring, what's the point?
.
Florida has 51 players for the Vegas Bowl.

no one worries about the polls past #4 and soon #12, so why bother?

Boy, I know they have a big lead, but UL's QB is just lobbing the ball down the field.  2 easy INTs for Cinci.
