Well, they're an SEC team in a bowl game that's not the CFP, so of course they don't want to be there.

TT playing really hard, that's no question.   Ole Miss really careless with the ball.   not quite as bad as they looked at Arkansas

I watched parts of bowls between 6-6 or 7-5 teams and was impressed at how hard they were playing.

Texas down 20-10 vs Washington.

Quinn Ewers is a second year college player, he was the #1 overall recruit and given a perfect 1.000 rating by the 247Composite. I believe he was tied with Vince Young as the highest rated QB ever in the modern recruit rankings- which goes back to 2000. Don't know if I see that. He's not giving off Trevor Lawerence or Justin Fields vibes imo. Maybe it's too early. But in year 2 of both those other guys' careers they were lights out. Shoot Lawerence was lights out day one.

Is there a shot that Peyton's nephew winds up starting at some point next year?

27-10 now. Yeesh. Sark better break through next year or his ass is going to be on FIRE in 2024.

27-20 final.  Texas playing without the best RB in the country.  Not terrible but I'd hoped for better.

I'm already on record as saying I don't think Sark's the guy, and I also don't think Ewers is the guy.  Neither are flat-out awful, both have some upside, but "potential" really just means you haven't done anything yet.  2023 will be the year where both guys need to DO something.

yeah, agreed. I think Sark needs like a 10+ win season and a trip to the B12 title game and Ewers really needs to establish himself as the guy and take a step up near that elite echelon. If Sark has another 7-8 win season, if he gets a Year 4 he is basically coaching for his job that year and anything less than a huge year his behind is gone. Ewers will have to level up because Arch Manning is coming in hot as the #1 QB and #1 player overall in the '23 class. If Ewers isn't making a significant leap in Year 3, it's gonna be really tempting to play Manning.

I watched part of the game and agree with Utee that the OL still needs an upgrade, maybe in coaching?

Texas just doesn't look like Texas these days.  (And bowl game don't look like they used to either.)

We can argue all day about whether or not modern bowl games are meaningless, but with both of Texas' best running backs and a couple of Texas' best defensive players opting out in favor of the NFL draft, this was quite obviously nothing more than a scrimmage/preview of Texas' 2023 team.  Which is more than a little bit concerning, given the o-line's struggles.  I guess we'll see next year.

I view them as quite useful for the coach, and younger players.  I ascribe little importance to who wins anything but a major, and that is about to be diluted.

Telling a bowl official to "never f***ing tough him again" is a worse look than his mediocre coaching
