former Michigan RB Zach Charbonnet to UCLA. Chip Kelly has a nice piece to work with. Let’s see how that goes.

former 4* Penn State LB Lance Dixon (6'2, 221) enters the portal.

Dixon is originally from the state of Michigan, he was rated in the 247Composite as the #179 player overall and #9 OLB. 247's own rankings were more bullish- 247 ranked him as a 5*, the #13 player overall and #1 OLB.

Michigan or Michigan State probably most likely destinations.
There's been buzz since before he officially entered that he was transferring to UM

Who wouldn't want to be the next Kyle Pitts? Florida should be able to recruit TE's up the ass going forward.

Gilbert is a damn horse.

I like the move for McCaffrey. Step down a level, work closer to home. If he’s actually good, it’ll come out, if not, wasn’t meant to be.

Is that the UM McCaffrey or the Nebraska one?  The Michigan one looked good in limited time, once upon a time.

UM one.  It would be great if the other one followed suit, and they had to compete for the job

Apparently MSU fended off a late push from Oklahoma to retain offensive tackle transfer Jarrett Horst from Arkansas State.

With the portal, and the one-time transfer exception, it almost feels like signing day is diminished, because if they aren't happy after that first year, they're going to just move on anyway

Yup. Lot more OMG 5*’s and high 4*’s gonna move on after 1 year if they aren’t playing day one.

That transfer portal with 1 time exception existed back in the day Brady probably gets benched because Henson’s dad would’ve told Carr if you don’t start Drew he’s leaving.

Mullen had done a good job of this - Florida has acquired five former 5* players from transfers.

Although WR Shorter from Penn St looks like he runs a 4.75 forty.  We'll see.

It does seem to help players migrate to better situations.  Tight ends saw what Kyle Pitts could do at Florida and suddenly that's an attractive situation.

How come all the 5* RB's aren't waiting in line to transfer to Wisconsin?

Because they need to show that they can pass protect, and catch passes out of the backfield. O0
