It's really funny around my house right now.

For some reason, a lot of the kids these days, including my 16yo son, are really into the Fox body Mustangs.  And after he found out I used to own one, he got really mad at my i s c & a aggie wife for making me get rid of my 1983 convertible.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I really liked my car and I too wish I still had it.  But IMO it's certainly not among the most beautiful or desirable of Mustangs.  I don't know if there's some movie out that popularized it in the same way F&F popularized the otherwise forgettable Nissan Skyline, or if it's maybe just general 80s nostalgia which is popular among the Tik Tok crowd.  But either way, I find it pretty funny how much the kids are into that model of Mustang.

Anyway, I told him he could save up and buy one, looks like you can get an original survivor in good shape for around $11,000 right now.  This one is exactly like the one I owned from 1993-2005.

Man, I had a 1988 Mustang, and I could not wait to ditch that car. I still have no idea why I bought that thing.

Traded it in for a used 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo.

That was much better.

Just a personal preference  but I've never really liked the hatchback/long nose Porsches like the 924/944 and 928.  To me, aesthetically, the only Porsche I find attractive, is the 911 and its variants.

I'm not talking about driving them, of course.  I've never driven any of them that I can recall.

Wait, not quite true, a friend had a little Boxster for a couple of years and I drove that once.  It was fun enough.  Reminded me of a Miata.

Yeah, the 928 was conceived to replace the 911 as the flagship car. The 2+2 design was supposed to make it more widely adopted. Didn't work for the Porsche market.

My brother in law (10 yrs to the day younger than I) is really into these as well.  Has one and put his son in another, but they're not even convertibles.

My exposure to Fords of that era was when the term Fix Or Repair Daily was well earned.
