I'd venture that those who seek out "road racing" type driving experiences are a slightly different breed than those who seek out "drag racing" type driving experiences. While I'm sure there's some overlap in that Venn diagram as the two are perhaps just different expressions of the "I wanna go FAST" gene, I think even in that overlap most would show a very strong preference for one type of experience over the other...
Yes, I completely agree with this. In fact it's the point I've been making all along.
There is a large segment of the "want to drive fast market" who are likely to road race/drag race, and who can't, won't, or don't want to, race on a track. And that's all good, because that's what they consider to be fun. It might or might not be because they're afraid of being exposed on the track, as you suggested. I'm not sure I buy that, it's certainly not FF's motivation, and even if it were commonly true, who cares?
Lots of people buy fast cars or modify cars to be faster, simply for the thrill of 0-60 or the drag race or the rolling street race. They have no interest in racing on a track, despite being disparaged by grumpy types like CD who doesn't see the point in 0-60, and apparently,
you, for not being skilled enough or whatever.
