Meaning, "music a lot of people don't like."  I thought that was obvious.

Obviously nobody thinks rush is bad at music.  Thus the "really good" at playing "bad" music.

I just think it's sort of a silly, demeaning, elitist thing to say.

For any and every single band you could name, there are a lot of people who don't like them.  So I guess if you think they're technically proficient enough, then ALL of those bands are really good at playing bad music?

A lot of people don't like Harry Connick Jr. tunes.  Does that make him good at making bad music?

I know you're not being mean-spirited or anything, I just think it's really dismissive in a snobby elitist way to say something like that.

Impressive.  Ad hominem plus red herring in a single five-word sentence.  You shoulda found a way to throw in an appeal to authority to hit a trifecta! :57:

Reminds me of some youtube WWII message boards and some British high brows saying yanks are full of ourselves. As they refer to princes/kings/lords/sirs 😁

Has anyone looked to see what people are paying to witness "bad music" right now?

And how many of them there are?

Ohio State roster spending goes way back my friend, we all know it didn't just start with NIL. :)

Around here there are still free concerts, or shows with a $5-10 cover, from some absolutely great musicians.  I haven't been to an arena concert in decades.

I've seen a bunch of big shows out at COTA during Formula1, but those are all "free" to me since I'd have bought the ticket just for the race anyway.  No way I would have bought those tickets just for the musical acts though, not at those prices.

I found some of my concert ticket stubs from the 80s.  Big arena shows for bands like Van Halen, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Rush, The Cars, Boston.  They were all like $10-$15.
