Yup, if some "expert" agrees, it's great, if they don't, we claim they are goofy nonexperts.

So, why do we need any experts?  Just have your own opinion and go with it.

I understand if one is contemplating something outside your experience another opinion can be useful, or misleading.

My wife's favorite restaurant here in town is not Michelin rated, but it's still very very good, very busy, reasonably priced, tough to get a reservation.  My own is probably Bacchanalia which does have a Star, yay for me.

Yeah, it relates to confirmation bias.  Some thing we like gets "five stars", so we feel justified in liking it, I guess.  Same with wine of course, where it's probably worse than for other things.

"We" like confirmation of what we want to believe in the first place, by "experts".
At least I don't have that problem. It seems my tastes run contrary to the rest of society...

I'm going to start a marketing company. I'll evaluate a company's idea and:

  • If I like it, I'll advise that they run screaming the other way because it's destined to fail.
  • If I hate it, I'll advise they go full throttle and make it happen, because it'll be a smashing success.

Horns back in the Top 10 for 1 week until Georgia knocks us out again.

Well Kirby has some dirt on the SEC Refs,so Horns will have to have to go in dry, early and often

I'm stunned BYU isn't on this list.  ASU in the front end of the WAC and eventually Boise in the back end of the MWC keeps them off.
Hmmph.

Yeah, the Utes are on the list, and they were BYU's little brother up until Urban showed up.

Not gonna happen.  Texas already got refballed in the SEC championship game last year.  The old guard isn't about to let an upstart win just yet.
