This is a pretty good example in my view of a pointless list.  Maybe in the details there is usable information.  I would not retire in any of these states for weather reasons, not even close.  I enjoy visiting them, in summer.

Texas has some large urban areas where gun ownership outside criminals is probably low.

I don't know anyone here who does not own at least one gun, and almost every one of my friends in Illinois/Wisconsin has guns.
