television revenue is the only thing that pays the bills

plucking a couple programs from the B12 wasn't going to get them a fat contract
The PAC was never going to pluck teams from the B12 because the B12 contracts were better, because B12 ratings were better.  Nobody watched PAC football.  Nobody cared about it. This is what I explained to PiratesRoost repeatedly from 2009 through about 2019 and he could never understand it.

There's a reason it was the PAC that folded, and not the B12.

A couple of those 1-loss UW teams never got any respect, which was stupid.  The '98 team never got above 8th, I think, despite starting out 8-0 or 9-0, wound up in the RB with 1 loss.
They couldn't pass at all, just handed it to Dayne a ton, and had a great defense.  Hell, if '98 Wisconsin played in 1978, they'd be held up on a pedestal to this day, lol.
No team has ever just played good defense and simply tossed the ball to some running back on offense ...

... oh wait.

well, I meant the new B12 - W/O Texas, OU,  and A&M, and any decent teams

That's what I'm talking about.  A&M and Nebraska and the rest were already long gone at that point, no need to even discuss them.  But excluding Texas and OU, there were no B12 teams that were going to improve the PAC's deals.  The PAC wasn't capable of poaching any of the B12 teams because any additions to the PAC, would have resulted in a net decrease to each individual PAC team's payout.  There's no way the PAC presidents were ever going to vote to add schools that decreased their overall payout.

On the flipside, USC would have improved the B12 contract, just as it improved the B1G contract, and any other conference it chose to join.

Craig James called that Wisconsin team the worst to ever play in the Rose Bowl.

And then they won it.

It is often alleged that Craig James Killed 5 Hookers while at SMU.

I'm not commenting on whether or not that is true, but it is often alleged...

See my post on the Realignment thread, lol.
I'm aware.
But teams that went 11-1 doing that CHOSE to do it.
That Wisconsin team didn't do it because they wanted to, but because they HAD to.  They weren't doing it for easy, risk-adverse wins.
