Obviously, all aliens are country folk, with such distance between neighbors.

My guess is these "rankings" are more qualitative than not.

Quiet, or you'll have people moving in droves.

We have to drive up Buford Highway here to get into the "fantastic" places to dine, but there is one very good place in walking distance (Vietnamese).  Buford Highway here is an eye sore mostly of strip malls and traffic lights, but we do venture forth at times.  Our almost step daughter took us to a place up that way (Chinese) that was unique, to me, and excellent.

I'm down with just about any "ethnic food", though not German much.

I am musing about "ethnic foods", and which among them I like the most, a ranking if you will.  This really is impossible because there is much variety, but I thinking "Consider the type you like the best at a very good restaurant, and leave out any European kind."

So, here goes, it's tough:

1.  Thai - I could eat it every day.  I like rice, so that's a good start.  A lot of variety and sauce and taste.

2.  Indian - Close call, I'm thinking more northern Indian, enormous variety.

3.  Chinese - Another close call, same things.

4.  Persian - OK, I like it a LOT, what I've had, especially the lamb.  Maybe they are numero uno.

5.  Mexican - Well,duh.

6.  Korean - Only this low because there seem to be fewer kinds.  Maybe.

7.  Japanese - How can they be this low?  Can get pricey in the US.  Or not.

8.  Turkish - What I've had is really good.

9.  Mongolian - Also very good.

10.  South American - Not a fan of plantains.

I'm at the point where I don't even think of Mexican food as "ethnic" food any more... Neither with Italian / pizza. They're just so ubiquitous in American culture right now that I wouldn't even call them out. And beyond that, French techniques permeate everything, our cultural heritage in this country is so heavily English and German that many of our dishes are directly or indirectly linked to those cuisines.

I *would*, and this is probably weird to many of you, call out a number of Euro cuisines as "ethnic" food. Greek and Spanish would qualify easily, IMHO. But think about it--wouldn't something like Polish? I mean, would you ever encounter a pierogi at any restaurant that isn't specifically branded as Polish?
