They overreacted alright but MSU had already gave him more than enough before the LSU rumors - that were prolly BS. W/O looking back  I don't remember him being on anyone's short list or that He was the front runner for another pervs position in Baton Rouge. Sure he coached under Saban,Tressel,Smart and in the League but nothing by himself. I could be remembering wrong though but where is this stellar resume'?
They weren't rumors.  He had a hard offer.  They didn't get the big money involved until that happened.  And as great as MD was, he left the roster devoid of talent.  He had zero interest in crootin after the Class of 2016 disaster, and by leaving when he did, and with the pandemic basically killing any chance of MSU putting together a 2021 class, because you had a new coach trying to assemble a class of kids he had never met in person, the thought was the roster would be so barren if you let LSU poach him

Great points ELA thanx, still would have handed out an interim contract in February though.Take time to think it thru. Can you see if Mel went to LSU after Ogeron(sp) was sent packing for similar beghavior, according to one of the LSU fans on this board. Then pulled something like this? SMDH,poor Sparty fans - this to shall pass.Hard to believe one couldn't behave making bank. I hope they take time then cut him loose

Problem was nobody was done with Dantonio.  They were done with him surrounding himself with his friends on his staff, on career welfare.  Maybe(???????) Brad Salem, but aside from that, the villagers would have rioted with any sort of in house promotion.  Hell, they were on their last leg when he promised a staff shakeup the year prior, and literally didn't fire a single assistant.  Just gave them all new jobs.  I do think Brad Salem did some good things with that 2019 offense.  Problem is the coaching had gotten so bad, the lack of development was glaring.  It was just well designed plays, ruined by bad blocking, bad throws, or bad routes.  The "coaching up" 2/3* stars stopped working when the guys coaching them up were just MDs 60 year old friends who had nobody else willing to hire them.

It was so toxic, that even though a lot of people recognized Salem was doing some good things, despite the results, I don't think anyone would have gone for him either.

As foster parents, this is horrific.  And there's no way he just pulled that off the cuff.  He had it in his notes, as to when he was going to use it.  Thought about it, and still went with it.

We've had multiple foster placements, for various reasons, and adopted our last placement.  Her parents wanted her, but they were addicts.  He grandmother wanted her, but was already raising her addict daughter's 3 other kids.  Her uncle wanted her, but didn't want to have to put his biological kids through having to deal with their addict aunt.  And we desperately wanted her, and had to fight a system that gave her addict parents every opportunity to get her back.  I can't imagine how she would feel hearing a shitty ESPNU announcer say something like that

That cleared some cobwebs I do remember some push back on the Red Cedar about that.Well then the AD and assitant were complacent, little less watching and more analysing circumstances. But at the end of the day MSU didn't have the right adults making decisions, specially the 95 million. Hopefully things shake out for the better.

yeah I was absolutely shocked when I saw that....not that it's funny....but it was so insane that he actually said that all you could do was laugh and then jaw hit the floor. I still can't believe that dude said that....on a live national tv broadcast of a college football game. In what world did he think that was something to say? Has to have been a former CFB/NFL player with CTE to say something like that. My guess is the guy has already been fired.

It was the PxP guy, not the analyst. Former PR staffer who is now a TV anchor and does some broadcasting as a side gig. He posted an apology. Will be interested to see what comes of this for him.

I'm not sure if this is a Youngstown thing or more specific as a Tressel thing but it definitely held some of Tressel's teams back as well. The obvious difference being that tOSU is just on a higher plane (helmet) to begin with so tOSU held back is still pretty good.

LC was guilty of this as well. I think most of the coaches from the old school were guilty of it.

Well... how's everyone doing tonight?  Anything interesting happen on TV today?
I was at a wedding. Saw lots of old dock mates - 24 total. So that was nice.

Food was just OK. We were hungry.

The Badgers look to suck right now, based on what I've heard and seen. Haven't been able to post until now.

I'm in a shitty mood.

And you?

I'm not much of a "put in the backup QB" guy, but I do believe in sitting a guy for a series or two to let him settle down if necessary.

I was surprised Rhule didn't do that, or something....or anything....to help settle his QB.  He wound up making Colorado better than I suspect they really are.  I mean, that kid was screwing up basic stuff that had nothing to do with crowd noise or Colorado's defense.  You've got to do something there.  Yet he didn't.
