Prime Time Takes on the Nerds: Week 3 Thread
« on: September 17, 2026, 05:25:10 PM »
It's a rough slate out there this week fellas. But we do get a little Pitt v. Syracuse tonight. Westerville North travels to Delaware Hayes tomorrow. Should be a little more manageable than St. X or Olentangy Orange. I would like to go, but the game starts at 7, my wife won't be home until after 7, and it's 35 minutes away. My youngest daughter wouldn't want to go, but I'm not sure I want to just leave her alone. Hmm, still contemplating.

I started listening to some Arkansas radio "analyst" kind of guy talking about Arky, he had NOTHING positive to say, nothing at all.  Apparently they can't run, or pass, their defense is bad ... got me wondering how Arkansas could end up like this, which he attempted to explain a bit.

Syracuse seems like they are aiming for the Guinness record for penalties

The GaTech fans here are pretty disconsolate.  0-2.  Not really that competitive, not looking good.  They play Mercer tomorrow, a pastry, then Stanford, so if they claw back to 2-2 their fans will be talking playoffs.

The who now? I'm not sure those exist.

I actually know one.  A good friend of mine from high school, she went to GaTech and was the feature twirler in their marching band.  Married another GaTech nerd and they eventually moved back to Austin and I see them occasionally.

So, I guess there's two, technically.

Well, I guess Stockholm Syndrome can sorta be described as fandom...

Well, I live in walking distance of Tech, if we walk south we start seeing students, though I think most of their students aren't football "fans".

I'm still amazed at the off campus student housing buildings going up down there, really incredible amenities.

Someone in my neighborhood has a GT flag.  Don't know the owner, but there is at least one more for you.  Oddly we also have a house that flies a BC flag.  Two of the smallest P4 fan bases, and not remotely local

The bar next to us often flies a Michigan State flag.  I asked the owner once about it, she did her undergrad there, but said her MBA is from Jawga.  It's nice to have it next door when we really don't feel like cooking or walking very far.  It can be a bit noisy at night but they manage to shut down the noise around 9:30.

Of course here we get all sorts of fans from all over, including some GaTech fans.
