Jeepers Cripes Almighty, I didn't see this until today! Hope you have a very skilled sturgeon, I mean surgeon. Truly, we have heard from you so many times in the past and wish you well.

The "good news" is how medical science has progressed ...  Obviously brain surgery sounds scary to us all, and well it should, my guess is they know what they are doing and this will go fine, as well all hope of course.

I'm reminded of my far far far less serious "procedure" I had for atrial flutter, my doc said it was developed in about 1997, before that it was treated with drugs ineffectively.  That was "life changing" for me, folks before this was an option would have aged 30 years with no real recourse.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Today has been exactly one week since surgery. Recovery has not been easy, but today is the first day I can read a screen a little bit. I had two sections of my skull removed on out side of my head with a tumor removed on each side. The skull was put back into place with titanium screws.

Needless to say; this isn’t something I thought id ever experience. I will have some significant time to heal, which means I’ll see a lot of football and college basketball this year. I currently have 52 staples in my head. It’s absolutely insane.

This was an incredibly scary thing to face, so it put so much of life into reality. The last couple months of spending time on this board, made me realize that over 20 years I’ve been blessed to share ideas with a lot of people here.

Appreciate you guys. There’s one person missing I hope someone can track down and that’s Maximum Sam. For many years we didn’t see eye to eye early on, but he’s someone that really grew on me that earned a lot of respect and I’d love to see him back around again. Visiting this place with so many good people really has meant so much for me this year.

great news

do what the Doctor says and get well
They won't let me give blood anymore. The burnt orange color scares the hell out of the doctors.

Well, I'm late to the party, but as you noted, SM, life happens, and it has for me, too.

But I'm relieved to read your follow-up post, and wishing you all the best for your recovery.

Although I'm not here very often, I still think of you guys frequently, and appreciate the many friends I found here.

Losing is hard, but she's tough, and getting ready for the next challenge. And the talking heads here don't see her as "losing" so much as building for the next thing. That is very definitely not her perspective, but it helps a little to hear people "in the know" say it.

Politics is a strange beast.

I have a friend who has a law degree from Ohio State and was a combat Marine in Iraq who told me he was interested in politics and trying to be a positive and more centrist kind of politician.  He waded into it at the local level and told me he was rapidly disgusted with it, and just phased out.  (He's doing well as a lawyer.)

I have a lot of respect for folks who are willing to wade in and stay there.

Anyway, I didn't want to distract from the good news on the brain surgery.

I once had brain surgery myself but the doctor told me they didn't find anything.
