I have avoided malpractice by sending my taxes away for 20 + years.

Back when we met and life was very different for me, it was advantageous in my situation to have an S-corp, so that's what I did on the recommendation of my tax attorney.  I was happy to let his outfit do my taxes every year, because I'm 99% sure I didn't have the Understandz to do my taxes correctly in my situation.  And, they were great at exploiting every available deduction and loophole I didn't know about.

Now I'm just a W-2 employee and there's not much need to pay somebody throughout the year to keep my taxes in order.  Our taxes are simple and I do them on Turbo Tax in less than 30 minutes.

I've done Turbo the past couple years.  I'll try that again this year.

I keep telling my advisor to get me out of the investments that cause complex questions that I don't have the answers to

I procured 4 cases of mostly near expired seasonal biers from the local guy (by 8 different craft breweries) for almost a 3rd off told him he may not see me until Memorial Day. Guess I'm not going out for The SB
So fast forward - in this abundance of suds is nestled a sixer of "Hell or High Twilight" Citrus Wheat Ale (5.6% ABV) from the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco. Well I had to look them up because last year I had their Fireside Chat a winter/holiday seasonal spiced ale (7.9% ABV) and that was really, really good. Started wondering how the local guy found this brewery on the left coast as I was going to order more of their efforts.

Well it turns out the "Twilight" series appears prophetic as it was "Last Call" for them - the spigots went dry and they locked their doors at the end of November after 25 yrs in the business :(. So I'll be nursing the 5 of those I have left and going to check out the shelves at the small mom/pop places that might have a few a few of them collecting dust. Damn shame when Independent U.S. Craft Breweries like this and Anchor belly up. Hell they were rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake. Going to have to find the Sad Thread

I live in a state that requires a very Minimal inspection before you can renew your car registration. There is something wrong with one of the diagnostic system on my car, but according to Google, that is not something that will fail me on the inspection.

So hopefully, I can just take it in next week, and then re-register the car, and then get this problem taken care of the next time I take it in for an oil change and whatever else.

Just this past year, Texas stopped requiring inspections prior to registration for non-commercial vehicles.  If you live in a county that requires emissions tests, you still have to do that.

It's nice not to have to bother with that, but I'm not sure how the DMV ensures vehicles are road-worthy.

They don't, but anybody that wanted to get around it before, could, so I don't anticipate any real change.  Everybody "knew a guy" who either didn't care, or was willing to hand out an inspection sticker for the right price.

Back when I was driving a total beater, I had a guy.  Everybody does.

I never knew a guy.  Never really asked, I guess.

My old car had some electrical glitches with the rear brake lights (which eventually had a recall and I finally got the problem fixed for free) and there was a couple of times the brake light had newly gone out and I discovered it on inspection, which was to my advantage.  That's probably rare though, because in my case it was an active defect more so than driver negligence.  My guess is it isn't common to have a defect which would fail an inspection or for something to be dangerous and the driver wouldn't already know about it.
