I had a local Irish Red ale (Barn Burner) with my Wings on a Wednesday night at the Nebraska Ale Works in Kearney

I've been posting here (or this site's predecessors) for 19 years.

I like you clowns, I've met a number of you multiple times, and whether or not you like me and despite the fact you root for the wrong teams and have weird politics, I think of a lot of you as friends.

That makes me happy.

Tell ol' WildcatWhateva howdy for me.
unfortunately, the wheatfield lawyer was in court and actually working at 1:06 in the afternoon
his secretary seemed to be genuine in her story
I did get a text from him later.
He seems to be doing well.
Hays, KS seems to be a nice town.  I was not expecting as much.  Small college there.

I was very touched some twenty years ago (coming up in August) by how so many posters here responded when I was in a bad way.

I still am.

It's crazy to me that I've been posting with some of you since 1997, which by my recollection is about 2 years after the internet was actually a real thing.  Maybe 3 years, because I started college in 1994 and I think I got online at school either that year or the next (1994 or 1995) for the first time.  Unfortunately I wasn't on the CFB News site or whatever it was that many of you posted to but I was on the original CNNSI site with utee and JCG (Hooky Hornstein, whatever his other names were through the years).  We moved several times over the years after CNNSI shutdown, Winged Helmet had a site, Dustin R had a site, several others that escape me.  When Dustin's site shut down (whatever happened to him?) I was homeless for awhile, and finally did a search for "Hooky Hornstein" and stumbled onto this one.

I hardly ever post, but I find this site (and HuskerMatwitter.com) to be my go-to place for fun times reading and sometimes communicating with my fellow football fans - regardless of school affiliation; we are all just fans of the sport, I think.  When I do post, I tend to blather on, and I never know what weird tangent we might go on, but it is always fascinating and usually brings a smile to my face.  I find it comforting to see how this group rallies around one another in times of need from all parts of the country and no matter our sport, political, or religious affiliations - we are all in the same boat of humanity.  Makes me happy and hopeful for the future.

my husband may think I am a bit nuts, and he makes fun of my Husker devotion at times, but he says at least this way I can inflict my sportsdom on someone who appreciates my craziness, and he can go off and do his thing without inflicting his craziness on me, lol.  This always makes me happy.

My doctor visit yesterday revealed what I was a bit afraid of; bilateral hip osteoarthritis - so some adjustments to be made with my trips to the games this year; handicap parking lot and the golf shuttle that takes me right to the northwest corner of the stadium.  All I need to do is exchange my tickets with row 55 seating to the mobility assistance seating in row 7.  So game enjoyment without too much pain!  Woo hoo! And that makes me the happiest of all!
I know that you believe you understand what you think I said,
but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I meant.  Anonymous

With two kids in marching band I see a lot of high school football games these days.  Some of them are pretty good too.
Having been officiating High School football for 25 years, I have seen a lot of high school football games, most just aren't that good, but the good ones are worth the bad ones.

Always good to see you around @huskerdinie !

Yeah, our kids' high school regularly competes for 5A state titles, and their archrival won the state 6A championship last year, and overall the district is pretty good, so many of the games I get to see are pretty high-quality Texas football games.

The only thing I have to brag about my HS Football team is that we had the #1 NFL pick this last season.  Other than that we're not very good.

My senior year in HS, the football coach asked me to come onto the team and play tight end.  Bear in mind, I had never played organized football before, and I was 6'4" and 175 pounds.  I declined, I wanted to focus on the two bballs, but looking back I find it remarkable he needed a TE with no prior experience, and I probably would have started.  The team ended up "defeated" as I recall, I think they managed a tie.

The HS now is a football powerhouse, the ethnicity of the students has changed a lot.

The HS nearest me now has a rather impressive stadium (for Georgia) that I understand was built for the Olympics as a practice field.  I don't think they win many football games though.
