the meal with my daughter made me very happy

paired nicely with Big Grove brewery Octoberfest

the Mill Stream Octoberfest keg ran dry as I walked in the door!

My son finished his first round of college applications a few days ago, for the schools that have early deadlines of Oct 15.

So now he has officially applied to Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.

Yup my daughter did the same for early deadlines, as well as a few that she just wanted to get completed.  All of this week in Texas, it's zero-application-fee for in-state residents at most Texas state schools.

She's officially applied to:

Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Auburn, UC-Davis, and NC-State.

Now we're working through scholarship applications.

My daughter only applied to Texas and was initally rejected. She kept sending them things like articals she had written for her school paper and the fact she made edditor of her school paper.  This was to the school of communications.

I guess they got tired of this and sent her a letter of acceptance late in the application process,

It was like she ran a political campaign.

I was very proud of her.

Had nice dinner at Divan with our friends.  Tomorrow, Rome.  Well, Sunday actually, leaving tomorrow evening.  Late.
