Utee can correct me if I'm wrong, because it was a long time ago.

But I believe the site owner lost control of the site in a lawsuit vs a former business partner. So they started up surlyhorns and everyone moved over there.

I didn't transition to surlyhorns. I do miss Thujone's MS paint threads, though.
Yeah something like that.  I don't know the exact details but it sounds about right.

As for Thujone, he rarely posts or creates any new content anyway, so you're not missing out.  It's a pity, he's pretty hilarious.

Please report back on the Takomo's. They look interesting and I'm playing 20 year old Cleveland's.
Will do. It'll be several weeks at least. They're fairly backlogged. Online reviews are positive.

...and Ohio State.  The defending national champions.

Why would they omit one of Texas' four OOC opponents, I wonder???

Now you know damn well Junior those schedules are made way ahead of time we had no idea who your sickly billygoats on stilts was facing. But since your infernal bovines laid a good one on those Ann Arbor Astros

I don't mind baiting Buckeyes 'tall, but you misread my comments there.

That was in regard to someone bashing Texas' "weak" OOC schedule, but not even mentioning that the Horns are playing the defending champs, on the road, to open the season.  They were clearly pushing an agenda, and I was laughing at them for it.

I rarely spend much time on Facebook, but this morning I got a "memory" of the start of the first season of youth soccer that I coached. That cued me to look at the picture of my youngest walking off the pitch after his last youth soccer game just two months ago, and it makes me happy. We had a really good run with youth sports. It enriched both of my kids' lives...and mine.

TA 7's 3-P, although I traded out the 3 for a hybrid this year.

I had a cg10 56* but gave it to my wife when I bought the Kirkland 3-wedge set 4(?) years ago. They're worn out and need to replaced.

I'm not the guy that upgrades clubs regularly, but 20 year old equipment seems a bit too long for me.

That said, if you hit something very well, there's no sense in changing.

I really liked the CG16 irons I bought used for $300, but the shafts started breaking.  So, I replaced them with my current set of Mizuno JPX-EZ from around 2015.  So, they're 10 years old.  I bought them used from a friend for $400.

How often do you play?

If golfing and golf talk makes y'all happy, who am I to question that, here on the Happy thread?

I play a lot. I'm typically out there in some capacity 5-6 days a week. Don't always play a round, sometimes just hitting driver or approach shots, chipping and putting. Our course is a typical small town 9-hole semi-private, so it's fairly empty mid-morning during the week and I can bounce around the course to avoid the mowers.

I'm slowly upgrading my bag. Replaced my Nike Covert 2.0 driver with a Callaway Elyte last month. Then bought a ZT Spider the week after on a bit of an impulse buy. I do hit those old irons very well; they'll be the last thing I upgrade. New wedges are probably next and I need to get a 3 wood at some point for playing longer courses (ours only equates to ~5700 yards).

good for you!

Nike has been out of the equipment business for a while.  I'd guess the Callaway was a nice upgrade.

I've been a Callaway driver - 3wood guy for a long time.

I will say if you're looking for more budget-friendly equipment, I've had very good experiences with Sub70. Right now I'm playing their 3 utility iron, 52/56/60 degree wedges, and one of their putters. I also own a 5 wood but I don't hit fairway woods well, so it's not in the bag. Everything except the wedges were purchased from their pre-owned stock, and all looked brand new when it showed up. The wedges were a custom build.

They're known for excellent customer service. The wedges were a custom build where I called them and told them I wanted them built to 36.75", but due to the swing weight from being so long I asked them the cherry-pick the lightest heads they had. Which they did. They're a DTC brand that recognizes that they can't rely on JUST being cheap... They're also willing to go the extra mile.

Can't recommend them enough.

Oh, and the other thing about Sub70 is that they're located in Sycamore, IL (about 1.5-2 hrs west of Chicago). They have a full fitting studio there in Sycamore which I hear is really cool.

That doesn't help me, but while Sycamore probably isn't "around the corner" from Iowa... It's drivable.
